Bare windows allowed for the influx of the early morning light. Clear glass accepting all of the sun's warm rays, it fed into the small living room filling it rather quickly.
Shinning brightly into his shut eyes, he grumbled to the light daring to disturb his sleep. Shades of amber and orange spotted in his once pitch-black darkness keeping him asleep.
Trying to get away from the disturbance in the small space available, it was useless. Waking with a groan, he took his first conscious breath. Usually calm, he rapidly sucked in his breath from the unusual sharp pain stabbing his abdomen. Frantically scrambling to get away, he ultimately couldn't from himself.
"Hey, don't move."
Unsure if he had heard clearly from is pained groans, you repeated yourself. Once more in a frustrated grit, he had finally given up and laid back down to your sudden command.
"Don't stress yourself," finding it hard to lower your commanding voice, you tried to whisper as softly as possible. Remaining loud, you cared none for his current comfort level.
Carelessly dropping a damp towel upon his forehead as he awoke, you simply began to walk away. Without an explanation to his predicament, you left him simply be.
Finding it hard to remain calm through your ever-confusing actions, he abruptly flung off the towel. Tossing it onto the ground, the small bit of remedy splat.
"What the fuck happened?" He grumbled, turning as much as he comfortably could upon the small couch barely managing to contain his large frame.
"Um..." unsure of how to recall, you took a moment to spin the events in your favor. "You got into a little accident but don't worry, I took care of you," in less of a helpful tone, you rolled your eyes to the inconvenience filling your annoyed voice. "You'll be okay, pay me back later," you quickly spit out while glossing over crucial details of the event.
Bits and pieces beginning to ring familiar, the piercing injury changed his train of thought. Putting pressure on his pulsating skin, he tried to hold in the discomfort. "Why the hell are you here? Did you stay the night?" He searched for answers as his mind drew foggy. Blurred memories of holding you at night stood out.
"Hell no," you quickly scoffed partially offended from the mere idea crossing his mind. "I just made sure that you wouldn't die and left," you made sure to underline the truth leaving no room for memories to be wrongfully created.
He groaned, frustration building from the continued bare minimum. "How the hell did you get in then?"
You sighed, "There's more than one way to open a door without a key, Eustass." Not completely clear, you needed to keep some secrets to yourself.
Groggy mindset, he took a moment to think about it. Imagining his door laying in the middle of the hallway, he quickly tried to jolt up to inspect the damage.
"Hey! Hey! Don't do that! You're going to hurt yourself even more!" You scrambled over to stop him the best that you could. Holding down his bare shoulders through his frantic thrashing, you tried to not further hurt him.
Trying to fight back, he ultimately couldn't do so. Unsure if it was his ill condition or your own strength being too much, he reluctantly held down to try and calm.
Spitting some obscenities, his eyes began to slowly roll reopen.
His bare clean flooring, unseen since the day in which he moved in, stood out. His hectic 'organized' mess, tucked away into an easy position for everyone else to enter. A mixture of stale air and oil removed, it allowed for the first breath of clean air.
