Confrontation

(A/N: UwU this really might be the last chapter of this angst XiCheng fic 😂😂😂)

"Wei Ying."

Wei Wuxian turned and his face lit up. "Lan Zhan!" he exclaimed and ran to his husband Lan Wangji, passing by Lan Xichen as if he's just passing by air. He jumped at Lan Wangji and hugged him tight. "I missed you so much!" he whispered and kissed him as he wrapped his arms around Lan Wangji's neck.

Lan Wangji's ears turned pink as he kissed Wei Wuxian back. Jiang Cheng just smiled at them, while Lan Xichen balled his fist inside his sleeve.

After the kiss, Lan Wangji turned to his brother – his face blank like nothing has happened. "We'll be going first, brother." he told his elder brother.

"Okay." Lan Xichen said and turned to Jiang Cheng.

Jiang Cheng sat straight as he went back to his work after the two are gone. "... why are you here?" he asked as he took the brush.

"To see you." Lan Xichen answered. Jiang Cheng didn't answer. "Say. Even until now, you still doubt? About my love towards you – " he said as he walked towards him.

Jiang Cheng's forehead knotted. What does that mean? He thought, then remembered what their relationship really is "... I'm not doubting." He just said. Because I am totally aware that your feelings are not directed at me. He thought, his heart is stabbed. When he didn't hear Lan Xichen spoke, he sighed. Is this it? He though as he closed his eyes. He took a deep breath and looked at Lan Xichen. "Because I know." I turned to him. "You still love him... right?" He asked, referring to Jin Guangyao. The confrontation... he thought. I know we have to do this, but I never thought this soon.

"I - " Lan Xichen said.

Jiang Cheng looked away. Lan Xichen didn't speak anymore. Silence fell between them. Jiang Cheng remembered what Wei Wuxian told him earlier.

"Even if it's okay with you to be hurt, but there is someone who's hurt for you. There are people who are worried for you, and hurt when you are hurt. So... even if you still can, but we are already giving up." Wei Wuxian said, his tears are falling. "Jiang Cheng... can you just give up? Even if you can endure, but you know he won't love you. You can continue to love him, we won't stop you. But... can you... stay away from him? You can still love him afar, can't you?" He asked, his voice begging and broke.

... Am I this stupid? Lan Xichen thought, his face pale in pain. I know... I know I am hurting him but I still made him stay. He thought, referring to their relationship. I... took him for granted... I am using him as a replacement - he thought. But, that was before. Also... he thought and looked at Jiang Cheng. Did I even love A-Yao? As a friend... as a brother... but as a lover? He thought. Maybe a little. But, he never felt this obsessive and possessive before of Jin Guangyao. If he did, he would've already fought with Nie Mingjue. I guess... he thought. The reason I mistook my feelings towards A-Yao like love was because he had helped me in my greatest fall. I developed a false love towards him. But, the lovers' acts never crossed my mind every time I'm with him. Even if we've been together for a long time... my respect to him is greater than that false love I had. He's like my other younger brother. "Wanyin - " he called Jiang Cheng.

"Stay here." Jiang Cheng told him.

Lan Xichen didn't speak. He wants me to stay because he wants us to finally break...? He thought as he lowered his head. His tears had started to fall.

Jiang Cheng heaved a deep sigh. "You know what I answered to him earlier." He said, referring to what Wei Wuxian told him earlier. " – "even if I am hurt, but I still want him to stay by my side. Why? Because even if I'm not the one inside his heart, what's important is he's by my side. Even if for a moment... even if just a little time... as long as he's by my side... I am satisfied..." - " he said, his chest constricting, making it harder for him to breathe. "... is it okay – " he said and took a deep breath. " – " ...that I will think of him as mine, in this moment?" - ?" he said and turned to Lan Xichen, only to see him fell on his knees. His eyes went wide and he immediately stood up. "Lan Huan!" he called and ran towards him as he immediately caught him when Lan Xichen's about to fall on the floor. "Lan Huan! What happ – " he said and stopped when Lan Xichen groaned after he touched his shoulder. His eyes went wide, feeling dread as he reached his robes.
