it was a gloomy and stormy day and Lenny only had three things on his mind, food, water and how to get back home.
Lenny walked down the narrow path not knowing where he was going, but he didn't care as long as it was as far away from home as he can get. He kicked the dirt under his feet with each step he took. Out of the corner of his eyes he saw tall trees curving over him and blocking the sun rays from touching his delicate pale skin.
There was a slight wind blowing gently across his face it seemed to be carrying him to somewhere unknown. Lenny kept walking. He stuffed his scrawny hands inside the pockets of his oversized jeans and kicked a rock. The rock rolled into a lake and suddenly Lenny felt bad for drowning the poor rock.
He walked to the lake and took off his shirt and pants and folded them neatly and set them on the moist grass. He knew his mother wouldn't be happy if he came home with damped clothes. He jumped into the lake and started searching for the little rock.
He felt as if he couldn't go back up to the surface for a gulp of air he trashed around and started mentally cursing at the rock for making him go into the lake even though it wasn't the rocks fault.
And that is when he saw the little opening with a bright light coming out of it. He decided to swim towards it in hopes that it would lead him to oxygen for he felt as if he could pass out any second. Once he swam into the light he held his breath.
he felt ground
Confused Lenny opened looked around it seemed to be a tunnel! Where does this tunnel lead to? Where does this tunnel come from? Many questions floated around in Lenny's mind but he couldn't seem to figure out the answer.
The tunnel was big enough to just barely fit Lenny. Although it wasn't big enough for him to stand up, he still had enough room to crawl and squirm.
Lenny turned around curious to where the water went. Once he turned around there the water was flat as if there was an invisible wall holding it up. Lenny couldn't believe it! How is the water not spilling into this tunnel? Lenny thought. He held out a hand a slowly he put his hand though the water and it remained the same. He put his other hand through the water an yet it still remained the same. I must be dreaming! Lenny thought but yet he wasn't.
Lenny pinched himself many times but it seemed to be that he wasn't dreaming. No matter what he did to try to wake himself up he couldn't. What kind of trickery is this? Lenny thought that someone must be playing a trick of him. Lenny looked around to see if anybody was in the cave but all he saw was darkness. A bit creep-ed out Lenny had two choices, either to crawl into the cave and explore its secrets, or to swim back up to the top and forget this ever happened.
Lenny swam back up to the top.
but once he got to the edge of the water he felt as if somebody was tugging him back down, but when ever he looked at his feet nothing was there. The anxiety f knowing what was in that cave was eating him alive but he needed to get home before supper or else him mother and father would be left worrying where their child has gone off to now.
Wait why would they care now? They never cared before.
That's when Lenny decided to swim back down to the tunnel. Hesitantly he started to crawl deeper into the tunnel. He extended his arms so he didn't bump into anything. Lenny then felt something, it was something small and narrow. He picked it up and held it close to his eye. A pen! I don't need a pen! Lenny discarded the pen and then started to crawl again, only to turn around moments later to find the pen and sticking it into the side of his boxer briefs so it wont get lost.
Lenny felt as if he has been crawling forever. His knees were shaking with weakness and he felt suffocated. He regretted ever coming into this tunnel. He felt as if he should've went back up to the surface and put his clothes back on and make the walk back home and carry his life in as usual.
But no he decided to come and crawl around in an never ending tunnel.
Lenny decided that he should stop and take a nap. and lay-ed down in a fetal position facing the wall and took out the pen. He observed the walls he never realized that the wall had paint on it. Paint? He started to feel the wall, felt it all around gently, afraid that it will know down and pile over him suffocating with with dirt.
He took out the pen from the side of his boxer briefs and started to draw. He didn't know what he was drawing because it was pitched black but he kinda liked the mystery even though he didn't know it.
He kept drawing and drawing until his hand cramped up and his arm shook.
And that's when he decided that he should take a nap.
He lay-ed back down in a fetal position and started to sing lullaby's softly to himself. With each verse he sang his eyelids became heavier and heavier and that is when is fell into the darkness known as slumber.
