STARTED WITH A PHONE CALL
The sound of the phone ringing intruded her ears as she lay asleep in bed. Trying to ignore it, she rolled over and covered her head under a pillow. It kept ringing and ringing and ughhhhhh. After a few rings she groaned and sat up to look at the clock. "Five am?" She yelled. "Who is calling me at five am?" She shuffled her blanket around and brought the phone up to her face, trying to read the blurry words.
[INCOMING CALL: BAKUHOE]
"That's odd." She thought. What could he want at this hour? She answered the phone but he didn't say a thing. She waited. Should she say something, I mean this is kind of awkward.
"Uh, Bakugou?"
"Hey."
"Are you okay?"
"Why wouldn't I be?"
She huffed. 'I dunno maybe because you're acting weird.' she bought but instead she said
"You've never called me before and it's late so I assumed something was wrong."
"Actually somethings kind of pissing me off"
"Well what is It?"
"Just shut up and let me talk for a minute. You piss me off. You're so kind to me and I just don't get it! Are you doing it piss me off, to spite me? What's your fucking deal? You've got me constantly thinking about it, about you. It's so god damn annoying. Why can't I get you out of my fucking head?"
"So.. you called me because I'm too nice to you?"
"And deku it's like he knows how to set me off. Seeing you with him makes me feel sick to my fucking stomach and I have no idea why."
She could hear him sniffing.
"Bakugou are-" she paused. She was playing with the hem of her night shirt wondering whether or not to bring it up. She thought for a few more minutes on how to proceed carefully as to not upset him further.
"Bakugou.... there's nothing going on with me and deku. He's just my friend like you are!"
He huffed and secretly wiped his tears on the other end of the phone. He was whispering now, and in a broken voice spoke again.
"Please.. don't say that."
"What?"
"Jesus Christ are you fucking stupid? I like you. I don't want to be your damn friend. I want you to be mine."
She gasped. She never thought the day would come that he would openly admit feelings for someone, especially her. She was in shock. 'How do I even respond to that?' Her face was flushed with a light red.
"Bakugou, I want to be honest with you. I like you too but I don't think I can date you." She sighed. "Um..Its just that you're not a nice person. The way you treat Midoryia and just anyone in class really."
Now she was the one crying.
"This sounds so harsh now that I say it out loud I'm sorry. I'm really sorry."
He didn't say a word. He just stared at the sealing wishing the feeling in his stomach would go away. Was he really that horrible as a person?
"Please forgive me." She said. "i have to go." And with her final sentence she hung up.
