Round 1: The Fear Project
"There's so much fear"
A/N So here's the short story I am so sorry I am cutting it so close to thhe deadline I was so busy with chores and when I started I wanted to make sure this was my best work but I hope it's good and I stay in the comp. Anyways Enjoy @IamSiobhan
It’s dark, cold, and I’m alone. I blankly stare at the swirling darkness in front of me and slowly touch the floor. I realize I’m on the ground, the stony, cemented ground and I decide not to move. I barely remember how I got here just that a strong buff man grabbed my thin, slender body and knocked me unconscious. I then reach my hand out and feel up my body until I reach my face; Water is on my fingertips from loudly screaming, crying when I first woke up and realized what happened to me. A rattling noise like a cup crashing onto metal bars is heard. I swiftly turn my head and instinctively want to scream for help, but watching my fair share of horror movies has taught me that gets you nowhere. Then there’s a creaking noise and loud footsteps coming toward me I try to hurriedly crawl to the corner of wherever I was, but the footsteps were too quick and this person grabbed me.
They then dragged me by my hair to another dark corridor but with a candle at the end of it. I desperately wanted light and as he/she dragged me I hoped and prayed that they would give me light. They passed the candle and I praised God but soon I was then flooded with light, bright, bright light! So bright that it instantaneously blinded me, I was then pushed into another room with my captor following me. I thought finally I’ll see their face and was soon met with disappointment as they were wearing a black ski mask. The person watched me with their weird, piercing purple eyes and suddenly turned with a surprised gasp and left.
I looked around and realized I was in an all cement room with 5 bright lights on every wall and a camera above every corner. I stared at one that captured my attention and was shaped like an eye. It seemed like it was hypnotizing me because I couldn’t turn away no matter how hard I tried. Those loud footsteps returned and I was finally able to turn. I crawled as far away from the door as I possibly could and curled into a ball as if to protect myself listening to those loud footsteps waiting. I looked at his strong, buff physical physique and assumed it was a man, my captor who yanked me from civilization. He also in his hands was grasping a metal chair with clasps on the arm handles and the chair stands in order to bind my arms and legs. He dragged it rather loudly to the center of the room and said sit. I stayed where I was, scared of what he may do to me. Again he said sit and again I disobeyed.
“I SAID SIT!”
He then stormed to where I was sitting and yanked me in the air and threw me onto the chair. I stared at him shocked and in extreme pain. He said to look towards him and this time I immediately did. He then kneeled down to my level and roughly bound my arms and legs to the chair. In order to not cry I stared at the door in front of me envisioning me being free, thinking about how good I had it. Then my brain went through all the things I could’ve done right.
“Why didn’t you fight while he was dragging you? Because you probably would’ve lost”
“Why didn’t you run when he was gone? Because you would’ve again lost”
My mind started asking questions and then answering them until he suddenly stopped. I looked down and saw he had just frozen that’s when I realized there were other footsteps heading toward the room except they were more light and made the click clack sounds of high heels on tile. A woman came inside, smiled, looked at the man with the piercing purple eyes still frozen on the ground, and her smile turned into a grimace.
“And I had such high hopes for him, He actually survived….”
But before I was able to understand what she was saying she whipped out a gun and shot him right in the head with his blood splattering on my legs. I almost screamed but the last thing you want to do in front of someone who just killed a person is look weak so I held it together in order to survive. She then slowly glanced at me and turned over the man’s dead body his purple eyes slowly turned to a dull brown. She pushed him to the side, put away her gun, and smiled again.
“So hear is the generic speech that the government has required me to tell you.”
“Wait the government…. THE GOVERNMENT has done this to me.” I interrupted
“The U.S.A has had many problems with crime over the years, but not as much as these coming years. In turn the FBI has launched a special project in secret from the public eye in order to stop these crimes.” She continues
She then reaches into her coat pocket and pulls out a bright purple serum.
“It’s called The Fear Project in order to test if we can get rid of people’s fears and their fear mechanism so when someone’s in a crime they have a higher chance of getting out of it instead of waiting for the police and possibly dying before they get there. The serum is also supposed to give you increased strength and reasoning or intuition in order to protect yourself. The only side effect is purple eyes. Unfortunately no one has survived this serum because erasing one of your emotions takes a toll on the brain itself causing you to die. He survived but for only a week. Now we are doing an about face and seeing if it will work better on woman.”
I considered all this information this woman was giving me and shut my eyes and prepared for my death. I felt the woman grab my arm and for a few moments nothing happened. Then I felt a prick in my arm and was immediately overwhelmed with a fairly large amount of fear. Everything I was afraid of flashed before my eyes; I was so scared I began to shake.
“There’s so much…fear” I mumbled
The fear surrounded me, overwhelmed me and I felt myself literally growing weaker, dying because of this little shot. I grew weaker and weaker and felt my heartbeats go slower and slower until I died.
“Of course, I knew this would happen. I told them this would happen.”
The woman began to walk out until I suddenly opened my eyes with a flinch and felt a surge of power with no fears at ALL! I broke free of the clasps and ran toward the woman. I punched her, looked down, smirked and ran.
