The beasts in our blood

Prologue

All of earth's lands were once evenly split into two groups of people called Beast-bloods and the normal humans. Beast-bloods were a rare group of humans with the ability to turn into either a hybrid beast or a pureblooded one. Humans, jealous of these beautiful species, hunted them to almost extinction and forced the small group of remaining into hiding for risk of dying like their brothers and sisters. There's only a handful left now, blending almost seamlessly into the rest of humanity.

You probably noticed how I said ALMOST seamlessly. As you probably don't know, unless you've had the golden chance to meet a live Beast-blood, there are many small quirks that help separate a human from a beast-blood. To explain this I am going to list three beast-blood types and the defining traits that can be used to separate them from any other human:

Neko:                                                                                                                                                                                            

- An odd talent for climbing anything from trees, to wire fences

- A phobia of water (hydrophobia I think it's called)

- An intense liking for milk and fish

(Warning: Do not back into a corner. Can summon sharp claws on demand.)

Phoenix: 

- Hair that sticks up like feathers 

- An intense hatred for clothing that covers the back and shoulder blades

- Feverish body temperature 24/7

(Warning: Do not attempt to kill without having water on hand. Will burst into flames the second their heart stops and will come back to life unless the flames are put out.)

Spirit fox:

- Ghostly pale and cold skin

- Silvery-grey hair with pale blue streaks (not dyed)

- Always wearing fluffy clothing 

(Warning: Do not attack. Can summon claws like a Neko but can also take over your body for a short period of time like any spirit type of Beast-blood.)
