(This is Enya's chapter so will be in her POV ❤️)

I made sure I was alone in the forest before letting my inner Beast-blood take over whilst knowing full well that if anybody found out my life would probably be extinguished like a lit match in the rain.  A scorching heat ran through my blood as I shrugged off my shirt clothing, leaving myself in only skimpy scarlet underwear, as the scars on my shoulders started to drip what looked like molten fire. After a few agonising seconds, I felt a warm weight on my shoulder blades as I unfurled feathery golden wings with scarlet plumage on the underside. I let out a sigh of relief as the boiling in my blood cooled ever so slightly, signalling that the transformation had fully begun.

After only a few minutes I felt the wind ruffling through my feathers and saw my 'tail' laid on the grass like a ribbon made of fire. I spread out my wings and let the cooling breeze lift me high in the air and glided over the forest of trees. The feeling of weightlessness was something I always craved yet got to feel so little as I was forced to pretend to be a human or risk digging my own grave and finding out if Phoenix beast-bloods could be reborn like the real thing or if that was a myth.

A few dried leaves would occasionally catch on fire from the sheer heat of my passing form but the wind from my slipstream would put it out quick enough to stop it from becoming a full-blown forest fire. 'But Enya!' I already hear you moan, 'Why do you fly in forests full of flammable stuff!?' Well, I'll tell ya, what would you think if you looked out your bedroom window and saw a Phoenix fly by? The trees offer me protection from prying eyes and a chance to avoid human contact, therefore dropping the risk of being caught!

I slowly let myself swoop to the ground as I heard footsteps nearby, hoping it was just a fellow wild creature and not some human who wandered into my secret area... Maybe even another Beast-blood!
