The pain was like no other I had experienced before. I was laying there on the hospital bed, in the maternity room, preparing myself for the life-changing moment that was about to happen. I started panicking and suddenly felt a hand grip mine. I looked to my left and I calmed instantly. He was there, the love of my life, right next to me helping me through the pain.
I could tell by his expression that he was also preparing himself for this moment and I couldn't help but look at him wondering what I did to deserve him. As I was lost in my thoughts, he looked up and our eyes connected and it was like everything around me faded away. I could hear muffled voices shouting 'push' and 'nearly there' but they went in through one ear and out the other. As we stared into each other's eyes, every memory with him flew through my mind and it was perfect.
