Dianne found her seat on the train and opened her messages to text Joe. She just wrapped another night on tour for Here Come The Girls and was on her way home for a day off.
Just got on the train see you soon xx
She quickly received a reply.
Fancy a facetime to pass some of the time?
She immediately smiled and pressed the little video icon to call him. His face appeared on the screen and he seemed to be wrapped in a blanket on the couch.
"G'day." He joked in his attempt at an Australian accent. Dianne secretly loved when he did it and loved even more to take the piss out of him for it.
"Hello. You look cozy." She could feel herself smiling.
"I am. How was the show?"
"It was really good! Didn't even hurt myself." She said proudly. "All the people at the meet and greet were so lovely. I have some presents I'm bringing home. But I am so knackered."
"Hopefully some more sweets to fill my cupboard that you've ransacked." He smiled. "Have you eaten? Do you want me to make you some dinner for when you get home?"
"You are the absolute best but I grabbed a bite before hopping on the train. What are you doing?"
"I've just finished some e-mails and worked on some editing. I'm really just waiting around for you now."
The two chatted another 30 minutes. They could've easily chatted the entire length of Dianne's journey, but Joe wanted to finish little bits of work before she got home so they could properly spend time together. Dianne sat back with her headphones in to listen to music and relax as she finished her train journey. She was really just excited to be home with Joe shortly. She was loving this tour and having the best time with everyone on it but there was always something special about coming home and getting into bed and cuddling up at the end of the day.
Dianne texted Joe as her train was pulling into the station. He offered to send her a ride. While he would have happily picked her up on his own, it was less hectic to get an Uber or taxi. He also kind of love the anticipation of waiting for her to come through the door and be back home with him.
He was on the sofa when her hear a fumbling and a key in the door. A suitcase rolled over the threshold into the entryway.
"Joe? Hello?" He was already on his feet headed to greet her.
"Welcome home, me love!" He greeted in one of his many voices. "Bloody hell, have you got enough presents there?"
"I told you there were a lot!" Dianne defended. "Surprised ya didn't try and scare me when I came in the door." He rolled her suitcase toward the staircase and set the armful of gift bags beside it.
"Thought I'd be nice this time." He grinned at her, moving to wrap his arms around her waist.
"Well aren't you a gentleman." Dianne teased, moving her arms to the back of his neck and giving him a kiss. It had been a whole week since they had last seen each other. After a few seconds, she pulled away and drew closely to his chest in a hug. "Ugh, I've missed you!" She squeaked out, holding tight.
"I missed you as well." Joe rubbed a hand over her back covered by her furry coat.
She pulled away enough to look up at him. "I just remembered I have a bone to pick with you, Mr. Happy That I'm Gone So You Can Eat All The Sweets."
"About that..." Joe trailed off with pretending to laugh nervously. "It was nice to get to them all before you." He smooched the top of her hair before pulling back to study her face for a moment. "Your makeup looks beautiful." His voice was serious as his hand cupped her cheek, letting her know he wasn't trying to be funny and make up for his previous comment.
"You are the sweetest man alive." She kissed his cheek. "But I cannot wait to take this off my face and get in bed."
"Go wash your face, I'll run you a bath."
"Will you sit with me and chat?" She pleased, big puppy dog eyes and all, not that she needed it. Joe smiled in response moving his arms from her back to her arms, releasing her hands slowly.
He made her a nice bath and lit the candles around the bathroom, the light low. He checked the temperature of the water to make sure it was just right. Meanwhile, Dianne had taken a hot flannel to her face to remove the makeup.
"This is the best feeling." She groaned loudly, wiping the last bit of makeup from her cheek. Joe walked up behind her, wrapping and arm around to her hip and kissing her neck.
"I'm going to grab us a glass on wine, I'll be right back."
Joe sat on the floor on the rug while Dianne soaked in the tub, listening to her stories from the past week and updating her on his own. Dianne soon stepped out and wrapped up in a towel, seeing a large shirt beside one of her favorite pajama sets. "I wasn't sure which you'd prefer." Joe explained, running a hand through his hair. She grinned at Joe, changing quickly into his shirt he left out for her, ready to get into bed.
"I think I've missed the cuddles most." Dianne stated as she climbed into bed, scooting closely into Joe as he put a show on the television. She looked up at him, big eyes again that could get him to do anything she asked. "Will you rub my back?" She added that little whimper they often did to each other, knowing it was a surefire way to get him to give in.
"But don't think I'll be rubbing those big ol' feet of yours. Even after that bath I'm sure they absolutely honk."
He moved one arm to scoot her even closer so her head and chest were laying on top of his own chest. His hand easily moved over her back at first, eventually slipping under her shirt to move his warm palm over her soft skin. She could feel herself drifting, content. She moved her head to kiss his jaw once then twice then a third time.
"What are you doing?" He chuckled.
"I want to make sure I kiss you before I fall asleep. I'm making up for lost time."
He shook his head, leaning down more to meet her lips. One long kiss. One more.
"Good night, I'm happy your home."
