"Oh, no!" I exclaimed the next morning.
"What happened?" Peach sat up with a flip.
"Are you alright?" Mario sprang up from his covers, ready to protect and fight.
"Kirby still hasn't showed up yet." I said to Mario and Peach. "We can't go on without Kirby. Could something had happen to Kirby?"
"Anything could've happen to him. You never know." Mario replied thoughtfully.
"We should go and look for him as soon as possible." Peach said, getting up out of bed.
"Good idea." I did the same.
After a quick breakfast, we went back where we first encountered Peach since that was the closest place to look. We walked around, calling for Kirby.
"Kirby!" I called.
"Kirby? Are you here?" Peach asked, looking behind a bush.
"Kirby, if you are here, give us a response. Don't be silent!" Mario persuaded.
We still hadn't had any luck.
"I don't like the feel of this place, can we please go to our next spot to look for Kirby? This place still reminded me of being possessed." Peach begged with a shutter.
"Yea, there's no point in staying if we can't find him." Mario said.
"Let's get out of here. I feel the same with Peach about this place." I suggested.
We then moved to the place where I encountered Mario. We did the same thing, but the result was also the same.
"Wait, what's this?" I asked, picking up an object from the ground. I then gasped.
"What is it?" Peach and Mario both asked me.
"It's the star plate Kirby rode on while escaping the lights." I explained. There could only be one possibility.
"I think we might have to put our mission to a pause for now." I said grimly.
"Yes, we can't continue without Kirby." Peach said in determination.
"Did he left anything else behind?" Mario asked.
"Sadly, no." I told him.
"What about the spirit you told him to bring with him?" Mario asked me, remembering.
"Oh, yeah! We could use other spirits I have with me to locate Kirby's exact location!" I exclaimed. "Mario, that was a brilliant idea!"
"Oh, I was just wondering. I didn't particularly have any ideas in mind. But thanks!" Mario said while scratching the back of his head.
I twitched an eye.
"Okay. Let's see." I mumbled to myself, bringing out the spirits. The spirits could sense the tenseness among us, and they immediately picked up the spirit's presence Kirby had with him. But they had a very worried expression.
"You guys might want to be careful. Kirby could be possessed." They warned.
We looked at each other in alarm.
"Maybe the evil one thought Kirby was the only conscious one left, and that might be why Kirby might be possessed." I deduced.
"You could be right. Maybe the evil one didn't know that we've became conscious, so that's probably why he still hadn't bothered to track us down." Mario said, agreeing.
"I am wondering about one thing though," I said. "Why the light didn't devour me when I came so close to it."
"Maybe you are immune to it." Mario said. "You were able to talk Peach and I both out of our possessiveness without putting up a fight. Maybe the evil one was afraid of you, so that might be the reason why he didn't touch you with the light."
"You could be right." I said. "I was present on that day, so there is no way the light could've missed me."
"Then that means, we have a powerful weapon here that could possibly defeat the evil one!" Mario said, grinning.
I looked at Mario, not knowing what he meant.
"You see," He explained. "The evil one was afraid to touch you, so I was thinking if you know how to smash, then you could beat him and save all of us from our fate."
"Me? Smash?" I said. "Mario, you gotta be real here. I'm not even part of this world, why should I participate in your activities?"
"Because you are involved." Mario said, looking at me in a very solemn expression.
"Okay," I took a deep breath. "If I was that hero destined to save all of you guys, then I was willing to train for battle!" I ended the sentence in determination.
"That's the spirit!" Mario said, patting me on the back.
From that day on, Mario and Peach each took turns training me. We had to be careful, because we could run into anyone who was possessed when we are tired and unable to defend ourselves. After days and days of hard work and back breaking training, I was ready.
"Let's go save those possessed and overthrow the evil one!" I said.
"You are still learning. Though I have to say you learn fast." Peach said to me. I sulked, I really wanted to help those that was still chained under the evil one, but when those experienced Fighters told me that I'm not yet ready to fight, it was like a hard blow in the head for me.
"But I feel ready!" I objected.
"Feeling ready isn't really ready, Leah." Mario said to me. "Being ready means that you are willing to risk your life to help those in trouble. It means dying." Mario finished the sentence in a very glum voice.
I know Mario was worried about me dying, but there was nothing he can do about it. I was destined to be that hero. I was appointed before I even time traveled to the Mario universe.
"Okay." I said, accepting the hard truth.
It was hard, I mean, really hard.
"It's okay. You have the potential." Mario said, trying to comfort me.
"You think so?" I asked. "I never thought I'd be the heroic type."
"Oh, you will be soon." Mario grinned.
I smiled. I might just be as famous as Mario once all 74 of these heros, not counting Mario and Peach, could be saved.
"Okay, let's train some more. I'm ready." I said to Mario.
"Let's do it!"
"Alright!"
