100 Reasons Why Harry Potter is Better than Twilight: Fan Rebuttal

1. Harry Potter fans aren’t vain and we don’t base our favourite books depending on how “hot” the vampires and werewolves are.

We do not do any of that. We do not just read the books and watch the movies because they are hot. We read them and watch them, because they are intense, romantic, dramatic, funny, sweet, thrilling, etc.

As much as we’d like to believe you, Twilight fans, your record is against you. The very reasons on you Facebook page were littered with instances of how “hawt” the characters are supposed to be. Just recently you’ve been encouraging fans to give reasons based on stuff other than physical appearance, but before this page-makeover, you were all about how hot the meyerpires and furbies are.

We’d like to address the “intense, romantic, dramatic, funny, sweet, thrilling, etc” bit. This is all a matter of whether or not you are a fan. There is nothing in the Twilight series that we find to fit any of those descriptions (unless you include unintentionally hilarious). The whole thing takes itself too seriously to be funny or sweet. The “intense” scenes are a little too watered down to truly be called intense. The romance factor doesn’t even exist because non-fans are still too creeped out by Bella and Edward’s unhealthy relationship to find anything romantic about it. And exactly what part of this series is “thrilling” because we never saw any instance of that? Our books must have been defective.

2. HP books are much better written and English teachers agree with this comment.

Not all English teachers agree. Some College professors have said that is childish and “more like a cartoon”. And most English teachers are INSANE. I know this because, all of the english teachers i have had in middle school and high school, have been CRAZY.

Ah, Twilight fans. Once again you resort to the one professor you bothered to research. And even that research was half-assed as you would have seen that the professor in question also hates anything that doesn’t have to do with history and/or historical fiction.

Also, just because your junior high/high school teachers were a bit eccentric, doesn’t mean every person who teaches English is like that. Please stop stereotyping people who went through hell in college to get a degree. Do you have any idea how nightmarish it is to be an education major in college? No, we bet you don’t. We don’t appreciate children with no life-experience criticizing people who are handing you something priceless for free: an education. There are kids all over the world who have to pay for their education and most of them can’t even afford the uniforms, let alone enrollment. Get off your high horse.

3. Stephen King hates Twilight and loves Harry Potter and we can all rely on Stephen King (Author of The Shining) to be a good critic.

Really???? Stephen King??? WOW. haha No, do we really care what he thinks???

First of all, to the HP fans, Stephen King does not hate Twilight. Neither does he love HP. In his criticism, he referred to the authors of both popular series. He said that both Meyer and Rowling are speaking directly to young audiences, the difference being that Rowling is a delightful writer, while Meyer…well, she can’t write worth a darn. (Immortal words). Let’s not misquote the genius behind The Shining.
