~Narrator P.O.V.~

Miku Bell was a simple 16 year old girl who lived in Freeport, Bahamas with her mother, father, and her 5 year old sister, Nina. She enjoyed surfing the waves in the ocean, playing at the arcade near her house with her friends after school, and working at her parent's gift shop. Her parents never talked about her dad's side of the family, saying it was a very hard subject to talk about, which she understood well. Miku always thought her life was never going to go wrong...

Oh how she wished to take that back now.

On the morning of the last week of summer, Miku woke up to the sound of loud noises coming from outside the front of her house. She gets out of bed, put some shoes on while still being in her pajamas cause she was too lazy to change clothes, and opened her bedroom door. She heard voices yelling and blaring sounds of an ambulance driving away from downstairs.

She walks downstairs to see the living room of her house in a mess. Photos of family memories were on the ground, the curtains that hung by the window were torn off and the window was broken with glass everywhere, the couch was torn up, and there was dried blood on the floor. The sight of the room made Miku feel scared and confused, thinking of what could have caused this to happen.

She turned to the front door to see it was open with police officers standing outside in the front yard. She quickly walks to the door, being careful not to step on any glass, and walks out the door. The police turn to see Miku walking out of the house, not knowing why she was in there. "Miss, what were you doing in that house?", a female officer asked.

Miku looked at the officer in confusion, wondering why she would ask that question. "This is my house. I live here with my mom, my dad, and my little sister. But what confuses me right now is why my living room is completely destroyed and why you people are in my front yard in the first place." The police officers didn't answer, they just stared at her. The female officer from earlier walks up to Miku and stands in front of her. She takes a deep breath before answering. "Someone broke into your house last night and killed your parents. Your sister was injured but is still alive, she's been sent to the hospital to get treated."

The information that the officer said to Miku frightened her to the core, afraid of what was going to happen now that her parents are dead. She didn't feel the officer place a hand on her shoulder asking if she want to go to the hospital to see her sister. Miku nodded in response, unable to speak or make a single sound. The officer lead Miku to her police car and drove her to the hospital where Miku sat in a chair inside the waiting room, waiting to hear news on her little sister who was in surgery.

After awhile, Miku's friends showed up and they tried to comfort her while waiting on any updates on Nina. Soon enough, a doctor come out asking if there was a 'Miku Bell' in the room. Hearing this, Miku stands up and quickly walks to the doctor saying she was Nina's older sister. The doctor lead Miku and her friends down the hallway towards a room where Miku could see her sister lying down on a hospital bed through the window of the hospital room's door.

The doctor stops in front of the door, looking at Miku before speaking in a soft, understanding tone, "Your sister had a bullet shot near her heart which we fixed easily, but her body is not functioning properly enough to keep her from going into cardiac arrest. She may only have a few hours before her body completely shuts down. We have tried everything we could possibly do but there is nothing we can do except for numb her pain so she passes peacefully. I'll leave you to say your goodbyes."

The doctor steps aside to allow the teenagers to walk into the room, closing the door behind them for privacy. Upon seeing her sister, Miku sits beside Nina, holding her sister's right hand in hopes that she can feel it since Nina was asleep. Miku felt her eyes start to tear up as she look at the state her sister is in. Nina had bruises and cuts on her face, a long cut down her right arm with stitches holding her skin together, and a black eye. Miku put her head down on the hospital bed, crying for all the things that had occurred that day. She wishes it never happened in the first place.

Soon, her friends had to leave since it was already 5pm and their parents wanted them home before nightfall. Miku stayed sitting by her sister, not wanting to leave her sister's side for a single second. Around 6pm, a knock on the door sounded through the room with Miku saying a quiet 'come in' before the door opens. Two police officers and a lady with long, red hair in a gray business suit and a briefcase in hand, causes Miku to look up in suspicion at the three people who walked into the room. Miku grips her sister's hand tightly, not wanting to be taken away from her little sister.

The lady walks over to Miku, raising a hand for her to shake saying, "Hello Miku, my name is Ms. Scarlet and I'm here to help you. I've heard about what happened to your parents, your sister, and your house and I've been assigned to help you find a home, meaning that if any of your family members are able to take you in then I will be able to transfer you there where you will live and have a place to call home."

Upon hearing the words 'family members', Miku could only think of her father's side of the family, with the only information she knows on them was that she had an aunt by the name of Audrey Bourgeois. The rest of her family was her mom's side but no one on her mom's side could take care of her, so she told Ms. Scarlet about what she know of her aunt. Ms. Scarlet nodded, listening to all the information she was giving by Miku before saying she will leave Miku with her sister and the two police officers who would be watching over them incase something were to happen.

About 2 hours later, Nina's heart monitor started to slow down, causing Miku to look up and see the numbers on the monitor going down. Miku looks at her sister, praying that she makes it. One of the police officers goes to get a doctor while the other goes to Miku, pulling her away from her sister. Miku tries to pull away from the officer, tears forming in her eyes, pleading to be by her sister's side. The other police officer came back with a doctor just in time to see that the numbers on the heart monitor read '0' with the sound of a long beep, indicating that Nina had passed away.

Miku had her head down as the doctor pronounced Nina was dead, the time of death, and then leaves to fill out some legal death papers. Miku stopped struggling in the officer's arms, allowing her to exit from their grip and fall to the floor, tears falling from her eyes. A few minutes later, nurses started coming into the room, turning off the heart monitor and other hospital equipment in the room. Miku didn't notice she was moved from the room by the officers, for she was still in shock of everything that happen this morning, from seeing her house destroyed to finding out her parents were killed to seeing her little sister die in front of her.

She just wanted it to all stop then and there, no more deaths, no more pain, no more anything. With all the events that accorded in just a short amount of time, Miku didn't notice how exhausted she was, causing her to feel sleepy. Within seconds, Miku shuts her eyes and falls into a dreamless sleep.
