Chapter 6

??'s POV

I can't believe it! She's finally awake! As soon as her friend came to tell me I left everything and ran to her room.
I heard the laughter before I entered the room. Damn... I missed it so much. I opened the door and smiled from the sight before me. She laid there, on her bed, being squished by her friends. They were a mess of laughter and tears. I just stood there, beside the door frame, smiling like a complete idiot, until she noticed me. She looked at me with her e/c eyes and I saw something I was starting to doubt I'd ever see again - I saw life.

Y/N's POV

She just stood there, watching us with a faint smile, but when I looked in her eyes I saw... sadness? What, wasn't she happy to finally see me, awake... alive. My friend - Inna - turned to where I was looking and had enough finesse to elbow Lexa and give a sign to the others it's time to leave. How subtle. I know. Everyone left except for her. She didn't move an inch. When my gaze returned back to her she looked down, as if ashamed of what she'd done.
" Hello, Shadow." I hardly recognized my own voice. It came out as a raspy whisper, but what can I expect - I've been unconscious for quite awhile.
She didn't even raise her head, just stared at the floor without saying a single word. "Didn't you miss me?"
Her gaze immediately shot up, her sudden action startling me a bit,but still stood quiet. On her blank face only her eyes showed some emotion - pain.
I patted the bed, signaling her to come sit next to me, and what a surprise, she moved. Her movements were slow and cautious, as if she expected to be attacked. She sat by my side carefully, maybe afraid she'd break me otherwise. We just sat there, nothing happening, until she broke the silence. "I'm sorry."
Her words caught me off guard. She never apologised. Never. Looking at her I saw not mock, but... sincerety. She really was sorry?! Letting out a deep and long sigh I took her hand in mine. The look of pure shock she had made me giggle. " I guess I can't be mad at you forever."
"But I did this to you. It was my fault."
" I know. But it's not every day when you apologise." We both let out an insecure laugh.
"I missed you. I really did, Y/N." And with that she gave me a bone-crushing, but warm, hug I'd never expected to get from her. I leaned in and hugged her just as tight.
" I missed you too, Shadow."
Surprisingly, I did. Even after putting me in a coma-like state and everything bad she'd done before, she still had a place in my heart. After all you don't befriend your personal demon just like that.
