Chapter 1: At The Bus Stop
“Come on Andre wake up! You’re going to be late” Andre’s mother yelled from his light lavender door frame. Lorain picked up an ornament from Andre’s dark brown antique looking chest of draws and threw it at him. The ornament, which turned out to be his favourite teddy bear-Mr middy, hit him in the face then landed next to his neck. Andre yawned and looked at his slim yet curvy, olive skinned mother.
She was the gem of the city; she had shiny almost dead straight black hair. Her eyes were a lovely pale lilac colour close to the pupil and slowly became more antique blue as the colour reached her sclera. Her face was slightly skinny, making her cheek bones stand out a lot more than normal people.
“But mum it’s the weekend” he groaned disappointedly at the fact it was 8am on a Saturday morning. “Exactly and nana is expecting you, if you don’t get up this minute you will miss the bus”
He sighed and rolled his eyes. His nana-Nancy was a tuff nut, she lived deep in the east suburbs and even though she was 65 she was not fragile or delicate she would not hesitate to yell, scream, or even punch someone if she had to. Nancy had very curly sandy brown hair with a slight mahogany tinge throughout it.
Andre sat up in his king size bed and stared at his mum while hugging his thick aero blue blanket. “Ok I’m up, I’m up” he yawned. His mother nodded her head happily and slowly closed Andre’s door. He stood up out of his bed and strolled over to his dresser lazily. He picked up his scarlet comb of the dresser and proceeded to comb his hair.
Andre didn’t really look a lot like his parents. Andre’s father-Harry had very dark, messy raven hair and dark blue eyes filled with lighter spots. Harry was a rather tubby man so Andre knew he got his figure mostly from his mum.
Andre looked deep into the mirror as he combed his curly bangs to the right side of his slightly chubby face. His hair was almost the exact same as Nancy’s. The same sandy brown but slightly blonder at the top and near the roots, an ash wood colour. He didn’t have the same amazing mahogany tinge like his nanna but instead a light blond tinge flurried throughout his thick strands. Andre’s eyes again were almost exactly like his grandmother, light Caribbean green around the pupil slowly becoming more sea form green then finally becoming a thick emerald colour.
After combing his nest head, Andre fixed the stray strands with some hair gel. He quickly slipped on a pair of bright red skinny jeans and a pair of black converses. “Andre are you ready yet?” Lorain bellowed from outside his bedroom door. Andre pulled off his night shirt and stumbled to the closet and grabbed out a greyish blue, short sleeve shirt with white cuffs and a white collar. “Yeah I’m ready mum!” Andre said opening the door.
The green eyed teen grabbed his bag and ran down the stairs to see his farther reading the morning newspaper. Harry looked at Andre and smiled slightly sarcastically “morning Andre”. “Morning dad” he said back while smiling. He grabbed an apple off the floating island in the kitchen and ran out the door. “I’ll be back around one”
“Dammit… I should have never told them… he’s so disappointed in me…” Andre sighed to himself, he dipped his head as he walked so no one would see his face sadden. Harry did not really like the fact Andre was gay, he never said anything but Andre knew that’s what he thought just by looking at him.
Finally after four or so minutes of walking through the cool morning air, Andre reached his destination, a small bus stop. He needn’t wait too long before the bus pulled up. Andre summoned up enough courage to step in the cold mechanical vertical; his usual spot at the front was taken by another boy about the age of 18. Andre shook his head and walked the seat behind the boy.
