To say the world has gone to hell would be putting it mildly. Chaos has ruled the world for the past fifteen years, population has dwindled and what was once a beautiful planet is now barren and desolate.

Could this have been avoided, probably not. It was all bound to come out eventually, but we weren't prepared for the violence that ensued and the hate for one another that would inevitably divide us all into groups of species.

There are the vampires: cold blooded creatures, only caring of themselves and no one else. When they're not fighting in the war against us, they're hunting down the last remaining humans as if they were cattle. If I've learned anything in the past few years, it's that vampires cannot be trusted.

Then there's the humans: a weak and dying breed that have gone underground to hide from us all, they
never knew about any of us until it was too late to take action. They live day by day just trying to survive and figure out how to get back on top of the food chain.

And last, my kind. Werewolves. Though we try to protect the humans as best we can, they will never fully trust us. Like vampires, we also have an interest in humans. We track them to find possible mates. Though we have a lower kill rate with the humans than the vampires, it's not unheard of for them not to survive the change from human to lycanthrope.

There are only two ways to become a werewolf; you're either born a wolf or you're turned. In order to keep our species from dying, we're encouraged at a very early age to find our mate as soon as possible.

As the Alpha of my pack, it is my duty to look out for everyone and make sure we don't fade away. Unfortunately, that means I have no choice in the mate matter. For me to not find a mate would make me look weak as a leader and to my people. I never asked to be Alpha, I was born into this role and I never wanted a mate. I didn't need the frustrations or responsibility that any of it came with.

As werewolves we live by a code, that was put in place generations ago and if you break the code the penalty is death.

First, we don't harm humans.

Second, the only time a human is to be turned is if they are your rightful mate.

Finally, unless we are found guilty of breaking the code, we don't kill within our own species.

As it stands the vampires outnumber us three to one and with the war that is raging, the most logical action for us to take at this time is to save what remains of the human civilization. Even if it is just to keep the vampires from gaining in number.
