                     Matt's POV

"Holy fuck, that hurts," I mutter as I get out of bed. I had a throbbing pain on my forehead, probably no, definitely from the mugging last night. Anyway, I took a shower, and got into my clothes. I checked my watch, 6:30. "Hehe, I might not be late."

I get to the station right on time. "Hey, Matthew get over here, I need to talk to you." called the Chief. Once we get somewhere private he talks to me about the mugging last night, he says that he's glad that I was there. He also asked me if I could look at this top secret case that was fairly weird to me. Apparently there was an illegal drag racing thing going on, and that somebody was trying to use a secret nitro formula that had substances that were illegal, an some were also unknown. There have been many people buying this nitro formula on the black market and dying due to crashes. And they gave me some keys, to the bodies of those who died because of this nitro.

He hands me the case file and says,"Be careful Matt, this is dangerous stuff." I nod and take the file up to my lab. Like he said it was confidential, so I can't talk to anyone about it. I get to work. I see the location. "Okay, I'll go take a look tomorrow," I tell myself. Then I get a text.

Amelia: Sry about last night, idk what came over me. For a second I don't know what she's referring to.
Matthew: Oh, that's fine you give the best hugs, but like wat was up with you?

Amelia: Honestly idek, I remember being really weird tho
Matthew: Okay, that's fine its no big deal

Amelia: Alright, ttyl Matt

Once I'm done texting her I turn off my phone and see what I'll do about this case. I going to watch out for a car that's abnormally fast. I'll question the driver, I'll have backup in case of any hostility. I ask the Chief and he makes sure that I get the help I need. Everything should happen at about 6:30 pm, then I Officer Thomson passes me some DNA to test it. I do it and I find a match. I give it to him and I clean up the lab.

I go to the morgue and look for the bodies with the keys. Once I find the bodies I look at the most recent death. It's has scorch marks, most likely from the formula, these scorch marks were odd, they had an irregular pattern. This must be from the nitro that caused this. I look at the rest of the bodies and all but one have similar scorch marks. Only one of them is a dude that died due to the crash, but he wasn't a driver, I looked over to the name tag, Fielder, John, poor guy. The one with different marks, was the oldest accident. The marks were not black but a blueish, gray. The pattern was similar, but the color was just completely bizarre. I just hope I don't have to look at another victim of this damn nitro, I think to myself. I wash my hands to leave.

I leave the morgue and stop by In-n-Out for a Double-Double —  It tastes amazing as always. Once I get home, I check the time, 8:30. "Damn, today was quick." I take a shower and brush my teeth. And for some reason I get the idea to call Amelia.

"Hello?" she answers. "Hey, Amelia, just wanted to talk for a bit, I'm bored," "Oh, okay, did you want to say anything to me?" "I don't really know, I just wanted to talk to you for a bit, we haven't had much time to hang out lately. " "Yeah, you're not wrong... well I wanna tell you something... eh never mind." "Okay, well how's it going at work?" "It's actually going really well, I'm almost done designing a new suit for firefighters, its fireproof, and resistant against friction." "That's really cool." "Oh, fuck I gotta go, I need to be awake early tomorrow." "Okay, Goodnight Amelia." "Night, Bro."

She hangs up. I sit on my bed and wonder once more. She wanted to tell me something but she couldn't. What was she holding back? Anyway, I was too tired to think about it anymore, so I decided to throw myself onto my bed.
