2037 chapter 1-?

"I am just observing the fact that it is outré that the faculty only selected a few students. I mean come on, non- disclosure agreements, weird." I smile at Haruna's antics, she was only 2 years younger than me at 18 and was always looking for some way to show off the words she had learned. As we walked to the meeting point I started to look around at the naval academy campus. Very standard, a few trees dotted here and there, were all that seemed out of the ordinary. But then, I was a long way from home. I had been on a short term transfer from Southampton naval port to Yokosuka naval academy in Japan with my father when the fleet of fog attacked. He left to fight the final battle against the fog, but like the others, he never came back. I trained at the academy because of my "special circumstances" but came to fit in quite well.The academy commander was taking me and a few other students to some secret location that no one knew about. When we arrived we were hurried inside a large building at the waterfront, I noticed that part was underwater. When we were inside we were searched for any electrical equipment. I had assumed because they had magnetic fields inside. I was wrong. Inside was an amazing submarine. It had glowing blue symbols all over the front and sides, other than that and its size though it looked like a world war two I-403 class submarine, a type that had all been destroyed in the fog war, meaning that it was a fog submarine. I knew then that everything had changed."We found this submarine in this dock with its weapons locked after the final battle." The commander started to explain about the origins of the submarine."It's a fog submarine" I stated to the commander."How do you know that!" Everyone turned to face me."I have always been able to tell when a fog ship is near." I explained calmly "When the fog started attacking, I knew, when they won the battle, I knew, when they get close, I know." Everyone was shocked into silence.After the commander finished explaining the submarine's exterior he allowed us to stand in front of the sub for a final explanation of the interior. I felt my hand brush the side of the sub, then everything went black. When I awoke I was still inside the dock but there was a strange holographic ring around me showing detailed information. "What are you?" the commander was beyond words, it was one of the other trainees that had asked me the question. Suddenly I started to feel a change within me. My true form was revealed to me. I knew what I was."I am the fleet of fog submarine I-403. You will release your hold on me or be destroyed." The trainee that had spoken before asked another question "What is your purpose?""My purpose is to find the malfunctioning world fog commander, command ship Mikasa, and relieve her of command."And how do we know you won't turn on us?""I have lived as one of you for years, what do you think I will do?"As I left the dock I wondered how I would find Mikasa, then I thought, I am a fleet of fog submarine with the most advanced sensors of the fleet, I can find anyone I want.I set my course to find go and Mikasa, I would send a signal that makes me seem like a normal ship, and then she will come to me. KongouJust as Yokosuka faded over the horizon, I detected a large fog ship headed for me. My scans told me it was Kongou, the leader of eastern patrol fleet one. Kongou was the first fast battleship to be sighted and, according to my files, was the first of her kind to be built. I noticed that Maya, who rarely leaves Kongou, did not seem to be with her. No sooner had I thought that than Maya surfaced far behind Kongou, obviously leaving the coming interaction to myself and Kongou, probably at Kongou's own request. I surfaced politely and started the contact."Kongou, it is an honor that you would come to see me yourself.", she was always one who respected formality and proper standard."I-403, your return is, unexpected, we had assumed that you were destroyed in the battle with the humans. That being said, I am glad for your return, you have come at the best possible time.""Thank you Kongou, I was unaware of my existence as fog, I have been living as a human for many years, my awakening from physical contact was, difficult, so please understand if I do not remember all that has happened.""I understand, but what of Haruna? I was informed that she came to live with humans as well as you.""Haruna? I thought that was a coincidence, are you sure?""I am, she left just after the battle and has not returned since.""I know where she is."
