"oh mother dearest?" i smiled, rolling over the side of the couch to land next to her. she looked over at me and raised her eyebrows. "please can i go out tonight. now, i know i'm grounded but i haven't been out in weeks and i'm so bored."

"where do you want to go?" she asked, not looking up from her phone. i sighed and pulled my knee's to my chest.

"just to lele's house." i lied. i wasn't going to lele's house, i haven't spoken to lele outside of school in months. there was a party outside of town that my friends had managed to get an invite to.

"are you planning on sleeping there?" she asked, this time looking up from her phone, and deep into my soul.

"yes, because it's a friday night and i think i've been good. plus her older sister is going out and so we can use the attic to chill in because her sister always hogs it."

"you can go, stop overselling it." she looked back at her phone as i shot up, running straight to my room.

from the underneath of my bed, i grabbed a tote bag with my hidden bottles that i had collected over the past few months. instead of selecting a few drinks, i just wrapped the bag up and put it into a black sports bag, along with an outfit, some shoes, a makeup bag, and obviously some pyjamas and some other 'sleepover' essentials. then, i slipped on my white airforces and an oversized, black hoodie that had been very over washed. i was already wearing white joggers and a crochet, crop top.

i skipped down the several flights of stairs and walked out of the house. living in a historical london townhouse, meant that i was only a short distance from a tube station. although i didn't look at all presentable, i caught the tube nearly everyday, so i didn't really care. i slipped my bag over my shoulder, plugged in some earphones and began walking to the tube station. whilst walking, i texted with my friends and answered snapchats.

when i got to the station, i scanned my oyster card and ran down the stairs. i just caught the train, and stepped on, finding myself lucky to have got a seat. the tube was actually pretty empty. my stop was in about forty minutes, so i rested my head on the window behind me and closed my eyes. my phone was tucked in between my thighs, and i was playing with the rings on my fingers, and the chain of my necklace.

after what felt like forever, i arrived at my stop and left the station. considering my friend didn't like on any of the main streets, i ordered an uber to her street. i had to sit on a bench for a quarter of an hour. whilst waiting, i answered a face time call from my friend, the girl who's house i was going to; grace.

"hey." i said, extending the 'y'.

"hey, nor. how long are you gonna be?" she asked.

"um, well the car's pulling up now so i should only be like ten minutes."

"ok, well i'll stay on call to you until you get here. i'm just picking my dress."

i continued to talk to her, helping her pick a dress and some shoes, as well as deciding whether she was going to curl or straighten her hair. the driver was playing light music, so neither of us had to make small talk. then, grace went downstairs, leaning me up against the wall of her kitchen. she got up onto the kitchen island, crossing her legs and eating some leftover salad. eventually, i pulled up outside of her house. i was so envious of her house. it was massive, with large windows, even a pool. i knocked on the front door, neither of her parents were home, but her older brother was, as well as a group of his friends. will, her brother, answered the door, leaning in the doorway.

"good evening, little norah." i rolled my eyes at his ridiculous nickname for me. it was a reference to the fact that since meeting him, when i was thirteen, i have grown just a foot. i'm sixteen now, so growing that little in three years is unimpressive. he gestured for a hug, so i swung the bag behind me and wrapped my arms around his torso, as he wrapped his around my shoulder.

"will stop groping my friend." i heard grace say as she walked into the hallway. i chuckled and pulled out of our embrace.

"where've you been, though? seriously. you're normally here everyday." he asked, disregarding his sisters presence.

"been grounded, you know? i call out our sexist head, and get punished for it." i explained. the whole reason i had been grounded is because school had called home explaining that i got into a heated argument with the head teacher of my school. he yelled at a year eight, screaming that she was asking to be attacked by the length of her skirt. she was crying, and i absolutely flipped out on him. it was completely inappropriate.

"well, someone had to do." he responded, beginning to peak at my bag.

"let's go." grace said, guiding me to the stone stairs. i waved goodbye to will and walked upstairs, to my best friends room.

grace wore a neon pink, slip dress, over a black tee, and lots of gold jewellery. she paired the outfit with black doc. martins, and a black, shoulder bag. whilst i began getting ready, she was straightening her hair. i was wearing a light, cream slip dress and a fluffy, cheetah print shoulder bag. i did light makeup, because i was going to be sweating it off anyways, and just brushed my hair out. it was naturally slightly wavy, and i couldn't be bothered to do anything with it. i kept the jewellery that i had already been wearing; some gold rings, a pair of hoops in my first piercings and some studs in the seconds, and a dainty gold necklace. for shoes, i wore the blue nike jordans. although they didn't really go, i didn't care; i wanted to wear them.

just as i went to call another uber, i remembered that my mum would somehow find out if i did that. so, grace used her phone to do so. the car wasn't going to get to her house for another twenty minutes, so we went downstairs and waited in the kitchen/dining room with will and his friends. there was romeo, who was actually in my year at school, but they all skated together so they were friends, oliver and james. will was cooking, and his friends were dotted around the kitchen.

"whatcha cooking?" i asked, sitting on the part of the island that was facing the oven.

"some pizzas, if you guys stick around for long enough, we can share." will responded, leaning against the counter next to me.

"i can't, william. we have a party to attend."

"what, and you're going out like that?" he sounded shocked, and i immediately looked at him with wide eyes and a pissed off expression. "no! oh god i meant like you need a jacket. here."

he slipped off the dark blue, zip-up hoodie he had been sporting all evening. i chuckled and jumped off the side. the jacket was quite big on me, and smelled like him, but i won't deny that i was immediately warmed with it on.

"thanks." i replied, sarcastically.

before the pizza was even done cooking, our car pulled up. grace and i said goodbye to the group of boys and headed outside. we got in the car and asked to play our music through the bluetooth. she agreed and we figured out the system before pulling away. along the way, we were going to pick up a few friends, and we were already running behind. so, after faffing about, the driver began our journey, and grace and i prepared to have the best night of our life to date.
