" Look, the moon is full." I turn and look, not at the moon but at his face. It's glowing, and that's when I realize, I've never felt something like this. I feel like I could fly on pure joy. There's no one who can make me feel like this.
Taking his hand, I follow him down the beach. The sand presses into my feet and behind us, are two sets of footprints, already being washed away by the tide. He looks down at me and smiles.
This is the moment I've been waiting for. And just like that, the moment is gone as the rest of our friends catch up. But it's not ruined. It's replaced with something better. Joyful shouts and laughter filled the quiet night air. It wasn't a lover I needed to pull me up. It was friends I could open up to. Friends I could have fun with. I needed someone to be there for me.
And I got that and more.
