The boat started to sway and Algernon immediately tried to get out but a figure appears from the shadows.
“Please don't kill us! We didn't mean to get on your boat! Don't let the Speck eat us!” Eric cries to the hooded figure. Algernon only managed to laugh when he discovered that the mysterious figure was no other than his Uncle Jon.
“Uncle Jon! What are you doing with the Speck?” Eric gasped.
“Uh-oh. Looks like the family secret is out.” Uncle Jon sighs.
He then asked the boys to keep a very important family secret. It turns out that most of the grownups already knows the real truth surrounding the Speck.
“It wasn't real,” Algernon realized and Eric couldn't agree even more. He was too scared of the idea of being eaten by a Speck that he was greatly relieved that the whole Speck idea was just a hoax. It was just an old joke they started playing on Old Al just so he can get something to look forward to every night.
“But what about Old Al?”
After the long talk with Uncle Jon, the boys decided to go home but not before going back to Old Al’s house.
