There was no where you'd rather be. It was Valentine's Day, and for once you weren't wishing that Cupid's arrow would target you and the man of your dreams. Sitting back, relaxing after a long day in college going to classes and housekeeping (doing things for the well being of your comfortability), it was nice to be alone with your thoughts.
You kept hearing your phone going off, and you eventually just switched the ringer, and kept on doing what you wanted. That was until you hear a knock at your dorm door.
"Hey Samantha! What's up?" you say as you answer the door.
"Hey, why aren't you answering your phone? We're going out!" She responded.
You and Sam have been friends since the middle of last semester, and have gone out (in the sense that she is referring to) many times before you'd declared your new resolutions [read the work description for backstory].
