[A/N- I wrote this for a challenge on Hamino, where I needed to write 1st person (I hate, hate, hate writing 1st person, I'd never successfully done it before this.)]

Alex's pov

To be honest, I'd never thought I'd be attracted to her, or that she was my type at all. She didn't look like a sweet innocent girl; that seemed to be the type I preferred.

Instead of the small face with big eyes both her sisters had, Angelica Schuyler seemed to have a much more mature complexion. I suppose I never paid much attention to it before.

But there, by my side in a  small, black dress and heels, she looked like the most beautiful and wanted woman in the world, it’s not like I could help help it.

And now we were alone, and now I was regretting that I ever ignored her.

There was a small candle on the kitchen counter, next to a vintage radio quietly playing some song. Nothing else was in the apartment, I was supposed to help her with moving in, but I guess we weren't gonna get much of that done.

I remember dancing across the kitchen floor, twirling her around. We almost died laughing when I tried to dip her to the ground.

But it was fine, we were friends listening to some silly song and dancing cheerfully, while laughing.

It was fine, we were friends dancing, until the song changed.

The quiet melody of a slow song echoed through the empty room, as we stopped for a moment.

I should pull away.

My first thought should've been that. I wasn't looking for love, and I had dated Angelica's sister a while ago and broke her heart. I didn't deserve a second chance with their family.

But as the candlelight lit up her dark face, I found myself wondering something quite a lot different.

Have her eyes always been this beautiful shade of creamy brown?

As I pulled her closer and slowly started moving to the rhythm, wrapping my hands around her.

We danced slowly, I wasn't really listening to the song anymore, more focusing on the woman in front of me.

And focusing all that attention to her, I couldn't help to notice her lips pull into a small grin.

“What?” I asked playfully.

“Oh, nothing,” the woman turned her eyes away from me and chuckled. “It's just that my moving in process isn't going all that well.”

“Well, y’know,” I whispered, stopping in my tracks. There wasn't really a reason to speak loudly, so I didn't. “I think I'd much rather be doing this.”

She laughed quietly. I started at her in awe for a moment, then joined in.

“You know, Alex, ” she said after stopping. “you really are quite funny.”

“It wasn't a joke.”

Angelica  started at me, trying to understand what I’d meant. There wasn't a hint of me just being silly in what I’d just said, and she knew it.

“Alex-”

“I'm serious.” we had stopped dancing a while ago, yet still the music was quietly playing in the background as I spoke. “I don't think you know how much fun it's been dancing with you.”

“Alexander,” she spoke calmly, her face so close to mine. “Can I kiss you?”

And with that question, I knew.

I knew I could never resist her smile again. I knew I could never live another day without thinking of her. I knew I'd be willing to walk through a thousand fires and swim a thousand seas to see her smile.

I knew I'd never let her go.

“You can.”
