~Harry's POV~
Today was the day. I had spent years living in these walls, getting to know every teacher and every room, yet I hadn't been recognized as a student until now. As excited as I was for the day, I had nearly slept in, much to the dismay of my dad. Though I was late, he wouldn't let me go until my hair was right and my robes were right. But I was there, stood, merging in with the other first-year students. I, Harry Snape, would finally attend Hogwarts.
"Welcome student's! My name is Professor McGonagall. I am aware that you must all be very excited to start your first year, but we must go to the dining hall so that you can meet the headmaster, and get sorted into your respective houses. Now follow me in an orderly manner." As Minerva turned to walk off, I saw a face in the crowd of someone I recognized instantly. A grin grew on my face.
"Draco!" I called out as I slipped past people to be at his side.
Draco looked over at me and he smiled "Harry, hey. I didn't think I'd see you. Thought you'd get lost or something." His platinum blonde hair was neatly combed and parted in a way that made him scream pretentious.
I just gave a light chuckle and gently punched his arm. "As if, I know this place like the back of my hand." During our little conversation, I had failed to notice that we had already made it to the dining hall in a group. As the grand doors swung open, most of the other students gasped in awe at the sheer grandeur of the room. I however just looked at the older students, most of whom I recognized. I was grinning until my eyes laid on my father, sat at the front row of tables along side Dumbledore.
When our eyes met, his usual glaring scowl softened a little as he nodded, confirming that he had seen me. My grin slowly showed its self again as we were ushered to the front of the hall.
After Dumbledore's speech, it was time to be sorted into houses. I just had to wait until my name was called, that wasn't too hard, right? Wrong. Having to wait was agonizing, it felt like it took forever. I don't know whether it was the excitement of finally being a student or if it was the fear of not being a Slytherin. He knew that was the house he was born to be in, he had to take after his father.
After a few other names, his was finally called. "Harry Snape. Please come and sit on the stool." I glanced at my dad one last time before I sat down on the stool. The feeling of the sorting hat being placed on my head was strange, or was it the feeling of being watched?
"Hmm...This is difficult, very difficult...You would fit well into any of the houses. Hmm, yes...However, I think...Slytherin would be best."
My grin shone once more as I nearly ran over to the slytherin table, sitting beside Draco once again. He looked over at me with a lage smile. "I can't wait for the lessons to start...Hey harry, do you thik you'll have your dad as a teavher?"
It took me a second to think about it "Hmm, I hope not, I see enough of him allready, at least I can escape him in lessons." We laughed in unision as we watched the other students get sorted. This got boring quite quickly however so I looked over at my father. He didnt notice me straight away, his long raven hair covering his eyes a little as he stared at nothing in particular. Eventually, our eyes met again and I swear I could see a little smile on those thin lips.
Huh...He never smiles in public.
