This was it, the address mother had sent me to. I wiped my clammy hands on the sides of my jeans, pulled my beanie down lower and shoved my hands deep into my hoodie pockets. I don't remember why I wear the beanie but I know that since I was younger my mother always taught me to never remove it, I didn't know what under the beanie looked like. I glanced up at the large black iron gates, after taking three long deep breaths I pressed the cool buzzer, "Hello!" Came a deep voice sounding bored as ever.
"Parker, Kacee Parker?" I said uncertainly my breath shaky. The sound of the man's breathing on the other end cut off and the gates slid open just enough to fit my slim, nimble frame through.
As I walked up the stairs I missed the bottom step with my knee cap slamming into the step, I stood and balanced at the blood trickling from the cut, I continued up the stairs completely unfazed. Eventually, I reached the giant doors, I pushed them open and stepped inside, a sudden coolness hitting my face like a slap after the humidity of the summer air. I reached the front desk and filled out my form, the man, who had let me in, told me to sit and wait. I did as I was told and waited, I waited, and waited. I felt my eyes drooping, I let my head fall onto my shoulder, within seconds I was asleep.

When I woke up I saw that I had been stripped of all my personal belongings except my hat, which was still pushed firmly in place, and my hoodie. I panicked my phone, my keys, my money! I nervously twisted the front bit of my fringe, trying to figure out what to do. My comfortable jeans had been replaced with repulsive sweatpants. And my black combat boots replaced with a pair of white pumps. That was when I looked around the room, completely white with limited furniture. I continued to twist my chosen piece of hair as I tried to think of a way out of the situation. I was so sucked into my own world that I didn't hear the hiss of the door as it opened behind me.
"Well, it seems like you're finally awake, " drawled a voice from behind me. My head whipped around so fast at the sudden intrusion I gave my self whiplash. The girl, who had just entered the room, I recognised her face.

I was being jogged on my mother's knee, she and a doctor were talking in hushed tones,
"I want to protect her, I don't want Kacee to have to feel pain again." said my mother, I heard her voice break meaning she was near tears.
"We'll see what we can do for you, Miss. Parker" said a woman, she picked me up and put me on her hip " let's see what we can do for you and your mother little one" the woman grinned at me with her big pearly teeth.

"Y-y-you!" I stuttered.  "You did this to me, you turned me into this monster, unable to feel pain," I yelled.
"So you remember me then" she smirked evilly.
"Jodie" I sneered.
"Good to know we didn't touch that precious memory of yours" she said enjoying my disgust.
"So why am I here this time?" I asked.
"Simple, its fun!" she chuckled again.

I screamed in pain as the bandages were wrapped around my head, I had just gotten out of surgery, the nice lady with the pearly teeth said
"mummy just wants me to be happy".
Then she unwrapped a lollipop offering it to me. I happily accepted and skipped off into my mother's arms as she planted a kiss on my cheek.

The needle was pushed into my arm but I couldn't feel a thing. I wanted so desperately to feel something, anything. I wanted to be normal again. I begged Jodie to fix me. She refused.

After a lot of crying and threatening to force myself to feel, she gave in reluctantly, She fixed me by reversing the original procedure, then handed me back my belongings. I stepped outside of the institution and pulled off my beanie letting my hair fly out behind me and breathed in. Cold air stung my cheeks. I yelped at this weird new sensation. But I liked it.
