CHAPTER 4
I am happily hopping towards daddy. He looked busy but this can't wait.
"Daddy!" I screamed. Muntikan pa siyang matumba dahil sa pagkabigla. "I've got good news!"
His face scrunched. "Huwag mo akong niloloko, Brielle Samantha."
Umiling ako. Ngiting-ngiti siyang niyakap ng mahigpit.
"I'm hired! I'm freaking hired, daddy!" Imagine my shock when I received a call right after I wake up this morning saying I'm hired. Natulala pa ako saglit bago nagsink in ang sinabi ng babae. Then I hurriedly go to daddy. He should be the first one to know.
"Magtatrabaho na po ako!" I'm so proud of myself. I didn't expect they'll hire me but maybe luck just got to my side.
Umawang ang labi ni daddy. "Sigurado ka, Brielle?"
I grinned. "Oh yes, daddy! I got a call this morning. Gotta go there tomorrow."
"What about requirements? Meron kana nun?"
My brows creased. "Requirements? Is that needed?"
"Of course! They didn't ask for that?"
Umiling ako. Naipasa ko na naman yung mga credentials. Baka hindi na need yung requirements na sinasabi ni daddy?
I looked at daddy. Maybe he did pull some strings? Or si Brandon? Whatever. Ang importante ay hired na ako.
"Baka naman namali ka lang ng dinig, Brielle."
Sumimangot ako. "I didn't, dad. I received a call. I received a text too. I already texted back my confirmation."
"Okay. I trust you in this one."
Ngumiti na ako.
I'm so excited. Magkakaroon na ako ng pera after - after what? A month? Bi-monthly? Kakasya pa naman siguro yung natitira kong pera bago magsweldo. I just hope it'll be enough for me. Yung magiging sweldo. Figures. That's what I'll be needing the most.
Pumalakpak siya at ngumiti sa akin. He has that proud expression on his face. A first after how many years. Yung last kasi ay nung nagtapos pa ako.
"Do you want me to throw a party for that one?" He's not being sarcastic. Usually kasi ay nagpapaparty talaga siya kapag may achievement kami ni Brandon.
Umiling ako. "Maybe a cold cash will be enough for me." I bargained. I needed it the most right now. Money. Money makes the world go round.
"Wise girl."
Napangisi ako. That I am, daddy.
He gave me money. I'm planning to celebrate right after I signed the contract. Daddy won't know because he'll be back in the province.
Hapon ng pumunta ako sa VI Holdings, Incorporated. I was all smiles as I made my way towards the HR Department. Nadatnan ko doon ang matandang babae, the HR Head.
"Upo ka, Miss Tsiu."
Ngumiti ako at nagpasalamat.
"Congratulations on being part of the company!" Wow! She smiled at me. Maybe she's not strict as how I see her the first time. Or maybe she's just in a good mood?
"Thank you, Ma'am!" Another wow. Ilang beses na ba akong nagpasalamat nitong linggo? It's really not me anymore. I'm missing the old me.
"I'll be discussing your job description."
I nodded, eager to listen to the so-called job description.
"Since you're hired as a Marketing Specialist, you'll be assigned in the Marketing Department. That would be in the 20th floor. The CEO's office is in the top floor. Everyone's prohibited to go in there unless you are called, okay?"
