Chapter 1

Jane couldnt believe it. A girlfriend. James. And it had come up so casually in their conversation. Her son had always been the type of person to yearn for someone to love and never found the right person but here she was looking around a crowded hall following James to meet the new addition to their family.

James came to a stop in front of a tall girl. Her skin was to tanned be natural and her blond hair was curled neatly cascading down her shoulders like springs. Her sea blue eyes scanned James face before a huge grin appearered .what do you want? she asked her voice loud but gentle. This couldnt be her. James never liked popular girls always prancing around with fake tans and unrealistic features and this girl seemed like a splitting image of one

You dont happen to know where amber is do you? James answered unaware of the questions swimming in his mums head the girls smile never faltered as she quickly said dance and pivoted back round her curls following after her like a tidal wave.

The look on James face showed that he in fact didnt like the girl as his lips moved to imitate the girls pulling a face while doing so. We walked a couple of paces father into the grand hall towards a small hallway.

Hanna pitch James called back turning on his feet so he faced me and walking backwards. Shes Ambers friend I honestly dont know what she sees in her turning back to face the long corridor he continued in the same direction. Im guessing Ambers your girlfriend? I called picking up my pace so I wasnt falling behind. I got a small nod as he turned towards a wooden door, he pushed himself against it opening it and walking inside.

A girl about the same Hight as me (not very tall for my age) sat in the centre of the floor crouched over her foot undoing the pink ribbon attached to her ballet slippers. Her brown hair pulled into a messy bun. The girl obviously hadnt heard us come in as she jumped when James crouched down in front of her taking the ribbon into his hands and undoing them for her. James! She said annoyance evident in her voice you startled me she finished pulling her shoe off and gently hitting him with it. Just though you would like to meet my motherJames said a cheeky grin appearing on his face

The girl looked at me her face going bright red. She quickly stood up knocking the other shoe off her right foot as she did so Im so sorry, Im amber lee she said embarrassment filling her voice. Getting a closer look her eyes are emerald green and her skin pale. She was beautiful but not like Hanna pitch this girl had a natural beauty. Taking her hand that she had not long ago put out I said back Jane mills I let go of her hand and she smiled I have to go get ready for the presentation she says already half way out the room its been lovely meeting you James turned to Jane a look of excitement and nervousness on his face what do you think?
