The next part of your walk through the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens involved taking the boys to see, and walk, The Boomslang – the 130 meter wide, 12 meter tall timber and steel pathway that weaved its way between the branches of the garden's Arboretum.

"This is called The Boomslang," (Y/B/F) informed the band members, pointing to the large structure as your group approached it from one of the green pathways, "She was named after the boomslang snake – one of the most dangerous snakes in the world, and native to South Africa – because of the way it's shaped. And because... 'boom' means 'tree' in Afrikaans."

She trailed her finger through the air, following the structure as it twisted and turned upwards between the gnarled tree trunks before soaring out of the leafy canopy in a graceful twist; from on its deck, it yielded a view that took the eye all the way from the sun-kissed slopes of Table Mountain, right to the distant misty Hottentots-Holland peaks.

"Just when I thought this place couldn't get more beautiful," Jon said in awe, moving his head all around to absorb the magic of being completely surrounded by trees.

With a gesture for them to follow you, you proceeded to lead the band up and along the walkway. Despite how awesome it was, the walkway was admittedly your least favourite part of the garden. The height of the structure threw you off completely.

You were walking with a bit of hesitation, though, and keeping to the side of the walkway that didn't make your height above ground as obvious. Ryan was trailing along next to you, and glanced at you in concern, noticing your extra slow pace.

"You okay?" he checked, frowning lightly.

"Yeah," you breathed, giving him a small smile, "Just..."

"Heights?"

"Mhm."

"Well I'm here if you need me," he said, placing a tender hand on your back.
