"Come down, we are gonna be late!" I speed down the stairs and grab my book bag. "What up with you? It's the first day of college and you making both of us late." Female says. "Sorry, I left my laptop in my room." She rolls her eyes and walks to the elevator leaving the door open. I walk behind her and close the door.

"Hurry!" The elevator was about to close as I put my hand on the middle and it automatically opens. "Coulda held it open for me." She shrugs. "Not my fault you are late."

When we get out the building we wait for the bus to pick us up on the benches. "You nervous?" I ask. She looks at me with a cautious looks and gives me a thin-lip smile. "A little."
"Hey nut head!" I hear someone and automatically recognizes who it is. Jace and Dominik, my two best friends since middle school. "Late as always I see." Jace says.

Dominik stays behind Jace while smoking a cigarette. "Hello, Female." Jace greets her but she stays silent. "We got ourselves a talker here." He laughs. "Don't your guy's classes start later?" Jace shrugs. "Yeah we decided to get some coffee and buy a few things we are missing at the dorms. I nod.

When the bus gets here Female is the first to jump in and take a seat nearest to the door. "Guess she wants to get there pretty fast." I say.

Jace laughs and shake his head, "What a freak."
I look over a Dominik who hasn't said a word all morning. "What's up, dude?" I nod at him. He just signs and lays rests his head on the window.

"What's up with him?" I ask Jace. "Pearl died last week. He blames himself because he wasn't there." He whispers. Pearl is his pet bird he's had since the beginning of high school. Poor guy was obsessed with that bird.

The rest of the twenty five minute ride I sleep on Jace's shoulder and sometimes take a look at Female reading on her phone. Her pretty brown hair flowing with the wind of her open window. Wait...did I just call her pretty? No. I called her hair pretty. Just her hair.

"Jace and Dominik, lets go, the bus stopped." They both slump out the bus. "Alright I'll see you guys later, I need to get to class." I wave at them and run to Female who is way too ahead of me. "Female! Female wait!" She suddenly stops and looks...angry?

"Stop calling me Female out loud." She whispers harshly at me. "I-I'm sorry. What am I supposed to call you then?" She stops and looks at me. "Don't call me nothing at all. We don't need to talk, ever. So just back off and leave me alone."

And there I stood as she walked away.
