Chapter 2
Simon stood up, trying to let his father know he could help him find the boy. “No, it’s not an option Simon.” His father said trying to remain calm.
“I want to help. I know I can find him.” Simon answered quietly as Miss Morgan walked into the room with her heels clicking unpleasantly. He closed his eyes and focused on something else and finally the noise drained from his ears. No color entered his mind, and he smiled happily. He opened his eyes to find Miss Morgan and his father preparing the files for the case. Simon already had a weird unexplainable feeling that he knew where the boy was and why the mother was in trouble, in mortal and deathly danger. Simon just had to dig deeper into his colors. “I can find him.” Simon declared firmly. Miss Morgan sighed, clearly thinking Simon was just an obnoxious average teen.
“How can you be so firm when you don’t know what you’re talking about?” Miss Morgan stated in her usual high pitched trying to be perfect voice in front of his father. Simon glared at her behind her back, but that was all Simon would let Miss Morgan know.
“Miss Morgan, will you leave us to talk?” The man across from Simon said at his desk, obviously trying to be polite.
There was silence, and finally Miss Morgan seemed to understand. “Oh, me. Alright, make sure no one gets into the case without consent, it might mess it up.” Miss Morgan said in her fake sweet voice as she strutted from the room with her usual annoying clicks of her heels.
“Don’t worry Miss Morgan, I will make sure this case works out.” He answered finally smiling at his son. Simon smirked as the door closed loudly. His mind exploded with intense colors of red and green; colors of hate and fast fear.
“We need a new door.” Simon told his father, clearing his throat lightly and looking around the neat organized office.
“I agree. I’ll have Miss Morgan on that as soon as possible.” His father said, making Simon smile. Miss Morgan will hate that, Simon thought happily. “So, how do you know where to find the boy?” He continued, pausing to look at the case file. “Explain.”
Simon thought for a moment. “I just can, I don’t know how to explain how I know.” Simon answered lightly, knowing that probably wasn’t enough for his father.
“I can’t lose my job by gut feeling along. Do you have a reason or not Simon?” He knew his father was becoming frustrated. Simon sighed. This wasn’t going to work without evidence.
“I can’t explain, I have good reasons. I know where I can find him. I have the evidence all written in my mind.” Simon answered looking away, hoping that his father hadn’t seen any color, thinking his son was crazy but his father only sighed.
