A Vengeful Neighbor

Chapter 1

In a calm afternoon, in the town of Tunititlan, 7 friends are in their homes, sitting in front of their computer, getting ready to play a game.

It has been almost a month since their battle with their worst enemy, who wanted to enslave all of the people of ‘El Valle de Mezquital’. Before he escaped, he yelled, ‘I’ll be back, and I’ll have my revenge!’ Typical of a villain like him. But none of them were afraid; as long as they were together nothing could stop them.

Now, Tamika, the only girl in the group, invited everyone to play online. Everyone was bored, so they accepted, and here they are, sitting in front of their computer, making a video call.

“Hi guys, how are you?”-Tamika asked, smiling.

“Just here, bored.”-Erick answered.

“At least, I’m happy to see you all.”-Luis said.

“Me too, it’s been a long time since we saw each other.”-Emanuel said.

“Since we defeated Cale.”- Edgar mentioned.

“Kinda weird, isn’t it? You’d think we would be more connected. I guess we’ve all been kinda busy right?”-Christian asked. Everyone agreed.

“It’s true, that’s why I thought to get back together by playing a game.”-Tamika said.

“Hehe, like how she played with my heart.”-Aaron said, chuckling.
“Oh no way, that’s sad.”-Luis said.
“Hehe ok, what’s the game about Tamika?”- Christian asked.

“Well the game is called ‘Secret Neighbor’. Anyone remembers Hello Neighbor?”- she asked.

“I do.”-Luis responded.

“Me too.”-Aaron said.

“I think we all remember.”-Ema said. Everyone nodded their head.

“Well this is like the multiplayer version. So, basically, a group of six kids make a plan to enter the Neighbor’s house to find out what’s inside his basement, but one of us is the Neighbor disguised as a child. So we have to find keys to open the basement, while trying to find out, and avoid, the Secret Neighbor.”-Tamika finished explaining.

“Oooo, sounds interesting, I’m in.”-Erick said.

“Me too, anyone else?”-Aaron asked. Everyone agreed.

“Perfect, now if you go on Steam, looks for the game and download it, please? It only takes a minute.”- Tamika said. The guys opened Steam and searched up the game. They download it and in a few minutes it was all ready.

“We’ll have to end the call, since we’ll be able to communicate.”-Tamika said.

“Ok then. Um, Ema what are you doing on your phone?”-Christian asked. Everyone turned to look at him, who had his phone in hand, which he put down immediately.

“Eh, nothing.”-He said.

“Hehe, like Aaron said a while ago, ‘She doesn’t love you.’”-Erick said, laughing.

“There’s no love there.”-Luis joined. Ema lowered his ears and made an annoyed face.

“Ok stop it boys, this got really sad.”-Tamika said.

“Ok, ok, we’re done.”-Erick said.

“Well see you guys in a bit.”-Tamika said.

“Ok, see you guys.”-Edgar said, hanging up. Everyone else did the same; they opened the game and got connected.

“Ok, everyone here?”-she asked.

“Yes.”-Everyone answered.

“Okay, now choose your character and let’s began.”-Tamika said. Everyone did that and was ready.

“Ok let’s began.”

Suddenly, their screens started to glitch, turning on and off, changing color, pixelate.

“What the, what’s happening?”-Luis asked.

“I don’t know”-Edgar said. Then it stopped and saw another player that was standing in the background.

“Hey, who are you? You’re not supposed to be here.”-Erick said, growling slightly. The stranger stayed silent.

“Hey, can’t you talk?”-Christian asked.

“This is weird. There are only 8 selectable characters. How did that guy get in here?”- Tamika said, very confused. Everyone stayed silent, until the stranger finally talked, “I’m back.”-the voice said.

They were confused, until they realized who the stranger was. “It’s Cale!”-everyone yelled.

Right after they said that, their screen started to glow brighter and a noise that hurt their ears. They started to squirm and flinch in pain, they fell on the floor, closing their eyes, pulling and covering their ears as the light and sound became more intense.

They couldn’t handle it any longer and they fainted, but not before they felt something weird happening to their bodies.
