"What the hell do you think you were doing with a boy?" Her mothers voice rang out as soon as she opened the door. Looks like she's drunk. Again.
"I was walking with him to get coffee for us and a few friends. Nothing more."
"Don't lie to me you skank!" her words were slurred. "You were probably fucking some guy behind a dumpster!"
"I wasn't!" Marrie yelled her voice voice barely steady.
"You know you were, whore!" she took another swig of whatever alcoholic drink she had in her hands this time and staggered out of the room.
Marrie sighed, and ventured to her room. It was her only safe place, it was located down in the basement, which her parents were either too lazy, or too drunk to ever come down there for her. There she had a piano, where she could release most of her troubles, her emotions and anything else that was on her plate. Her hands hit the keys, the theatrics, the emotions all filled the room at once. When she was finally done, she drew in a deep breath and Let it Go. She heard a couple foot steps coming down the stairs, and the anxiety grew in the deep pits of her stomach.
God no, they never come down here. She had to get out. She HAD to leave. She knew exactly what would happen again if she didn't.
Her eyes widened when the footsteps came crashing down on her world. The only safe place she ever had was completely violated. The voices of her parents carried around and circled around her head. The fear of her parents had frozen her in her place, and there was nothing she could do about it.
The blows of her parents words kept coming and coming, it was almost like they were taking turns, laughing at her, bruising her soul. they stomped back upstairs.
Before she could breathe again The door burst open, her fathers face much like a bulls, pissed was an understatement. He didn't say one word. Just grabbed her by her arm and shoved her against the wall. "If I ever catch you with another boy I will make sure it's the last thing you do." Marrie trembled, and mumbled a quick yes sir.
Her father scoffed and slammed her back into the ground, kicking her in the side. "Piece of garbage." Marrie didn't make a sound, she pretended to be unconscious. Cackling her father went upstairs.
Survival mode kicked in. Marrie quickly and quietly packed her dufflebag and slung her school stuff in her backpack. Carefully she pushed both bags out the basement window. She made a quick glance around her room doubling checking to see if she forgot anything. Make up, majority of my clothes, food, bottled water, shampoo and what not, straightener, and two spare sets of shoes. She gave herself a reassuring look in the mirror, and carefully crawled out the window not making a sound. The cold air smacked her face as she walked down the street in her shorts. Pulling out her phone she didn't know whether or not to call Michael. I think I'll keep walking for awhile. To cool off. Then I'll call him. Nearing her normal bus stop she plopped down on the grass.
Her thoughts were racing, and she couldn't keep it together anymore she looked at the bus sign and the words left her mouth "Just what the hell am I going to do!" tears started to run down her cheeks as the question racked her brain. Pulling her knee's to her chest she held herself silently shaking.
"Mars?"Lucas's voice brought her back to reality.
The first thing he saw was her legs. Both the new scars and the hold reflected slightly off the street lights. "Mars. What the hell happened?"
This time Mars couldn't snap her defenses up, and she spilled everything that had happened that night with her parents, He pulled her close and let her cry into his chest. His arms tightened a bit when he saw a car coming. Pulling her into the shadow's the car went right past.
