An AU fic, this is a take on the soulmate AU where when they are close to their soulmate they hear a ringing noise. This is set when they lived in the old house btw.

There it went again, the sound in my head, it was almost enough to drive me crazy. For some people it did. My soulmate must have lived near me, for I could hear it on an almost daily basis. Rachel, My best friend, had already met her soulmate, and assured me that it was completely normal. But I wasn't so happy that whoever they were caused me such a splitting headache. I was sat in my favourite bakery, reading the news when it hit me again and, deciding I was fed up with the noise, I chose to experiment. I walked towards the lady at the counter and found the noise dim down to a hum, it reminded me of the game I used to play as a kid, hot or cold. I was colder.

There was a man perched on a higher stool, his ginger hair falling over his face hotter. I was about to go over to him when it dimmed down again, it wasn't him. That left him, a guy leaning, bored, on the baby blue walls, massaging his head as he scrolled through his phone. He was the only guy left in the bakery. I smirked and walked towards him, the ringing was a million times louder now, catching his attention as he looked up at me. Realisation hit us both. Hotter, definitely hotter.

"It would appear that you're my soulmate." I used an overly British accent to hide that my voice was shaking with nerves. He was good looking, really good looking. I hadn't expected to be matched with someone like him. I had expected someone normal, a person you could pass by without noticing them. He was different. It came to my attention that I didn't even know his name. "I'm Lilly." I said eventually, holding out my hand to shake his, he shook it back, still looking bewildered.

"Rye Beaumont."

"When d'you reckon the ringing stops?" I blurted out, blushing slightly as I realised it wasn't the most romantic thing to say. Rye chuckled and looked up at me through a mass of brown curls.

"I dunno, I'm the last guy I know to actually find my soulmate."

"Same, I thought I'd missed them or something!" We both chuckled slightly, before he looked over at me, his eyes lighting up with an idea.

"D'you want to go somewhere?"

"Better then going nowhere I guess."

"Shut up, I'm serious!" I laughed this time and took his hand in mine, he took a step towards me so we were only inches apart.

"Where?" Rye thought for a moment, I could practically see the cogs turning.

"The park, I want to get to know you." I felt myself blush, no one had ever expressed interest in me before him, why I was still surprised that he was my soulmate.

"I don't think I mind this, with you being my soulmate and all."

"I like you too, if that's what you're saying." I laughed and he smiled back over at me, affection clear in his eyes. It was him that leant in, and as I felt his lips press against mine, the ringing stopped. He pulled away, both of us catching our breath.

"So that's how you stop it." I murmured,

"Seems like it." He whispered, causing me to giggle slightly before he wrapped his hands around my waist and kissed me once more. Both of us kissed with more passion this time, and forgetting where we were or where we had to be. We were both very happy staying in each other's arms forever.
