Seokjin Kim despised Namjoon Kim.
Well, that may be a little dramatic, but something about the younger boy irked Seokjin. Was it the fact they had the same last name? Maybe his aura? Whatever it may be, Seokjin had grown to dislike the boy.
Their first encounter was far from pleasant. A cold day in early December had caused pipes to burst in the sixth years' bathroom, so Seokjin, after a long day, took it upon himself to find working showers in a different part of Ravenclaw house. He had gotten word that fourth year showers were unoccupied, so that's where he went, thinking about how he could sing as loud as he pleased. Or so he thought.
He was about halfway through his solo when he heard the excruciatingly loud door open over the running water. A pair of unknown feet padded across the tiled floor and stopped when a bar of soap smacked the floor and slid, coincidentally right into the only occupied shower.
The audacity, Seokjin thought as the bar of soap slid close to his feet. He let out an agitated breath and grabbed the soap and his towel, wrapping it around his waist. He hadn't completely rinsed the conditioner from his hair and hoped he would return soon enough to prevent his hair from becoming stiff.
"Missing something?" Seokjin asked, pulling the curtain back and waving the bar of soap in the air. A fourth year boy stood, still fully clothed (excluding his feet), staring at Seokjin quizzically. His bleached blond hair hung just above his eyes, and his lips were parted as if he intended to say something but couldn't speak. He took a step forward to grab the soap.
That's when disaster decided to strike.
A slick spot on the floor had formed around Seokjin's feet from the excess water, causing the fourth year to slip, bringing both boys down. Seokjin lamely gripped onto the towel, his knuckles turning white, while simultaneously trying to soften his fall. A groan was heard from the younger boy, and a crack sounded out, sharp pain shooting through Seokjin's back and left arm like electricity.
"I'm so sorry," the boy started, shielding his eyes just in case, not wanting to see more of the stranger than he had to. Seokjin, on the other hand, was fuming, not saying a word as he struggled to get up without loosening the grip on his towel. He flung the bar of soap and headed back to the shower to rinse out the rest of the conditioner single handedly. He knew for sure his left arm was fractured and that he'd have to go to the hospital wing, but he'd be damned if he went nude with crunchy hair.
Left arm cradled gently against his chest and head pounding, Seokjin got dressed and grabbed his toiletries. The boy was sitting on a bench. When Seokjin stepped out, he stood and quickly walked over, face looking apologetic.
"I can go with you to the hospital wing," he offered. "I think I hurt my wrist, anyways."
Seokjin narrowed his eyes but agreed to the offer and let the younger boy take his things to put in the sixth year dormitories. The walk was silent, the two quietly navigating the castle. Upon arrival, Madam Pomfrey examined both boys, confirming the conclusion that Seokjin had fractured his left arm and hit his head, and the fourth year had sprained his wrist.
"Seokjin dear, you're going to have to stay the night from your head injury," she said, pulling his right arm and leading him towards a spare bed. A pair of feet followed behind as Seokjin let out a sigh and stretched out on the pristine white sheets of the bed. The fourth year sat in the visitor's chair, watching as Madam Pomfrey left to grab some potions to help Seokjin.
He took a good look at the older boy, who had shut his eyes and brought his right hand up to rest against his forehead. His hair was still wet, and he had changed into a soft looking striped pajama set with what looked like clouds with faces scattered throughout the design.
