"Kamari?? Kamari lee"
Yes thats me * looks up with a gazed look *
"Hi, my name is joder" the stranger replied
"Well nice to meet you joder, can i help you with something" i said reluctantly
"I see you wear boys clothes and i was wondering how that works, a girl wearing boys clothes thats not normal at all" says joder with a slight smirk
* clenches my right hand into a fist *
" To answer your stupid ass question , its actually pretty normal in my community and now i suggest you get away from me " i said
Thats the day that my anger started to get the best of me. People just dont understand how it feels to get questioned everyday. Somedays i wonder if i said just give up and live like im "suppose to" but no i dont want to give up. I want to prove that we are humans also.
* bell rings for 8th period *
"Finally the day is almost over" i think to myself
8th period is not that bad. There is a beautiful girl by the name of Jordan. She has long luscious hair , brown color, hazel eyes, and a smile like no other. We have only spoken to each other once. I could see that she's not use to talking to a tall, light skin stud with big buck teeth.
" ok class pull out your social studies textbooks and turn to page 87 " Mrs.Hoover announced
Now Mrs,Hoover was actually my favorite teacher by far this year. I felt like she understood my daily struggles and tried to accommodate for them.
" Kamari could you please read the first amendment on page 87" said Mrs.Hoover
"Huh" i said confused
*A couple if kids over in the back corner start to giggle n snicker*
"Hey faggot, are you going to read" said the number one person i hate, Amber
"Amber I'm going to have to ask you to leave immediately" said Mrs.Hoover
I don't get why people always resort back to the word faggot, people don't realize that saying that is disrespecting us but of course they could care less.
*Picks up my social studies textbook and hides my face with it*
"5 more minutes left, you can do it Kamari" i thought to myself
*Bangs the textbook against my forehead"
"Ring,ding,ring,ding" the bell rung
As i started to pack my stuff up and leave Mrs.Hoover approached me
"Kamari, don't let people like Amber get to you. Its just hatred. I know your a beautiful , intelligent young lady and one day people wont look at the way you dress or act. They will look at what you have become. What success you achieved." Said Mrs.Hoover in a kind soft voice
* smiles a lil *
"Thank you Mrs.Hoover i really appreciate you" i said
"Now go on and go home" said Mrs.Hoover
*Runs to my shabby old desk and picks up my book bag.. Runs out the door before anybody could even question me *
I walk home unlike other people. I just live right down the way on 23rd oakwood ave. Its not too bad of a neighborhood but we do have our problems. Murders, drug dealers. You know the basics of "the hood". I live in a household with my mom, 3 brothers, and 2 younger sisters. Yeah its pretty cramped in our 2 bedroom apartment but my mom does her best to make us feel comfortable. My mom is a housekeeper at the world renown Comfort Inn. She works most of the day so that leaves me in charge of 5 kids. Its a job but i have to do what i got to do.
* walks on the right side of the sidewalk*
"Hey you" says someone behind me
"Hey! Im talking to you" says the same person
*Turns my head slightly , trying not to expose my whole face*
"Yes" i said
"I seen you leave from the Reynoldsburg high school and i use to go there but i got judge to much" said the mysterious voice
*Turns around completely with a shocked look on my face.. Notices a #LGBT tattoo on her right arm*
"Telling by your tattoo i can tell why you got judged" i said
"Yeah the tattoo and the way i dress, look gets a lot of attention from other people by the way im Kei" said Kei
"Im kamari, nice to meet you kei" i said shyly
"Where do you live? Would you mind if i walked you home?" Kei said
"I live right up the street and thats fine with me"
*Looks over my shoulder wondering if i said the right thing*
