I sigh as I keep staring at the river infront of me.

Atleast this can calm me down.

It makes me feel comforted, and just for a while, I forgot about all this.

Only for just a while.

"Jisoo! Quickly now, they're going to be here any minute." Gowoon said.

(A/N: that's read as Go Eun btw. Umm yea whatever I'll see myself out.)

I stood up from my spot and made my way towards her.

"Goodness Jisoo, I told you to not be this dirty everytime you go there." She scolded.

After cleaning all the remaining pieces of dirt I had, she took me to the lobby and placed me beside a younger girl.

I waited paitently for those people to come, while looking down playing with the hem of my shirt.

I'm Kim Jisoo and yes, I'm an orphan.

Today is adopting day. Every month people go here to adopt us orphans.

I've been here for a year and four months, and I always end up staying back every month.

Just like every other time, I hope luck is on my side today.

Gowoon asked us to stand beside each other and so we obeyed and patiently waited.

Not long after, Gowoon entered with a bunch of adults and I instantly put up my widest smile.

A few minutes passed and my smile got wider when a woman approached me.

"Hi there! What's your name?" She asked.

I bowed. "I'm Jisoo."

She mirrored my smile and I thanked the heavens that this time, luck was on my side.

"And I'm Yeri." Yeri chimed in and the woman's attention was averted to her.

They conversed for a long time and by then, my smile has already faded.

This month's adopting day ended and like before, I stayed behind.

Gowoon thanked all the people that came and bid goodbye to the children who used to stay with her.

I went upstairs to my room and sat on my bed.

After quite some time, I decided to go out and headed to the river.

As I sat on the grass, the dam broke.

I buried my head further in my knees as I sobbed uncontrollably.

"Why are you crying?" I looked up to see a boy in front of me.

I stared at him for a while before wiping my face with the back of my hands.

"Why do you care?" I muttered.
