After winking at Loki and exiting the room, I make a stop at the bathrooms and lock the door, putting my back against it and sliding down to the ground, my head in my hands. God, my head hurts. I sigh pulling myself together and looking in the mirror. My skin is many shades lighter than my dad's, suggesting that my mother was quite pale. Not that I would know, since I have never seen even a picture of her. My eyes are a lavender colour. A fluke in my genes, or so I'm told. My hair is a bright shade of electric blue. My dad hates it but maybe that's why I changed it in the first place.

The pain in my head is beginning to become a dull ache and I sigh, deciding I need to face the Avengers at some point, and so I leave the bathroom.

I don't feel bad. I probably should. Tony is like a big brother or uncle to me. I'm definitely closest to him out of all of the Avengers. Bruce has taught me a lot in the lab, I help Steve and Thor explore the wonders of twenty first century earth, Coulson is my favorite agent ever and I have kept in touch with him, having found out that his heart is in fact still beating. I even train with Clint and Natasha on occasion. I ship them. Hard. Clintasha is my OTP.

Then there is Nick Fury. My dad. I would say it is awesome having a dad who is head of a secret organization dedicated to saving the world, and it is. However, he is also acutely aware of the dangers other parents don't even think exist. Let's just say I don't get out much.

I pause outside my father office and close my eyes picturing his office. There's is a large desk, organized since he's never there, filling the rest of the rather large room is a large table where he has meetings if he's ever home. After having the full picture I feel the matter in the room. Ever atom in every material to make bones, and flesh, and metal, and air. I finally have a picture of the room. All of the avengers are there. Fury at the head of the table, Thor on his left and Steve next to him. Across from Steve sits Clintasha, there chairs scooted close together and Bruce watches to the left of them, looking bored, the empty chair next to him on Fury's right must be mine. Lucky me. It takes me a moment to notice that Tony sits at the opposite end of the table apart from the group in the seat closest to the door. I stole his key to break into the prison of the man who broke stark tower, killed hundreds of people and was almost responsible for Tony's death. Damn.

I take a deep breath and open the door.

"Nice of you to join us," Fury says as the room goes silent. I pause as all the avengers look at me and my heart starts beating irregularly. Three beats much too fast, a beat skipped, two beats too far apart and I wonder if it will fail altogether. I close my eyes and breathe, twisting the ring on my left ring finger. It was my mothers. I don't look at Tony but I make sure his key card is back in his pocket. If he doesn't find it Pepper will. I keep my head up and my eyes fixed on the wall as I walk to my seat.

"Hello everyone," I say. Surprised at my own monotone voice.

"What were you thinking?"

"Ha. Trying to seduce the criminal."

"You need to be more careful, Dakota."

"Mistress Fury I beseech you..."

"Yes, Miss Fury..."

"Behave yourself kid."

Everyone but Tony speaks all at once and I feel the throbbing in my head become more apparent.

Suddenly, a voice speaks through everyone, "Let her do it."

Everyone stops at that and turns to the source of the voice. Tony.

"Do you have something to say, Stark?" My father's voice booms and my head feels like it might Explode.

Implode.

Detonate.

Shatter.

Bursts.

...Boom.

"I think you should station her in the room. With him." Tony's voice snaps me back into reality, "She has already proved herself in field and in tech and she certainly proved today that she is an asset."

I am so confused.

"And how has she done that, Mr. Stark. Just... humor me."

"She was inside of there with him. She touched him. She spoke to him, maybe even found information for us, and she's still alive."

I poke my cheek to demonstrate my aliveness.

Everyone stares at me for a long second and I'm still not sure what's going on when Bruce speaks up.

"He's right," Bruce sounds almost pained by the admittance. Steve nods too.

"My brother would not harm her," Thor assures.

Clintasha shrugs. "It will be fun to watch," Natasha thinks aloud.

Fury stares at the room in disbelief. Then he looks right smack at me and I smile. Genuinely, for once.

"I'll be fine, Daddy," I take his hand and squeeze, "I'll be fine."

He sighs and rubs his eye so I look around the room instead. Feeling the wheels turning in everyone's head. Feeling their thoughts. Mostly they speak of lose. How I have not lost. Not really. Not to Loki.

It's not true, but my eyes start to water and I push it down.

Far, far down.

"Okay," My eyes snap when Fury speaks and I almost accuse my brain of translating his words wrong. "You start tomorrow. Everyone is dismissed."

And that's that. I got the job.

Note: I asked my dad what Thors girlfriends name was and he said, "Loki." I am dying
