Danny's POV

"Lookin' good, Nikki," I nodded, giving her a quick kiss hello on the cheek. She made her way over to Julian, and he snaked his arm around her waist.

"Thanks, Danny. Looking rather dapper yourself. Remember the last time we went to the charity ball together?" she laughed. I looked at the floor and laughed, and Julian shot me a sheepish grin. The three of us burst into laughter.

But I stopped as soon as I saw her at the top of the stairs. Her gorgeous hair was pulled behind her head in a bun, and her dark makeup popped against her pale skin. She looked better in that dress than Dani had. She looked 10x better than Dani ever had. My breath got caught in my throat. She made her way down the steps sheepishly. All three of us were staring.

"Wow, Murphy," I managed.

"She looks better in that dress than Dani ever had," Nikki echoed my thoughts, low enough for only Julian and I to hear her. I nodded in agreement. She made her way down the stairs and looked at the floor.

"Hey, Julian," she waved awkwardly.

"Hey, Addy."

She made her way over to me and kinda lost her balance on the heels. I caught her.

"I gotcha, love," I said softly. She blushed. "So are we all set to go?"

"Yeah. We'll take the Range Rover, yeah?" Nikki suggested.

"Sounds good to me," I shrugged. The four of us made our way to the car. I opened the door for Addy as she got in the back with Nikki. Julian drove, and all I could think of was how pretty she looked.

But you don't give a damn about her, my subconscious reminded me. So what, she's a hot piece of ass? She's just some girl; she could never replace Dani.

"Danny?"

Julian's voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

"Mm, yeah?" I asked.

"I said," Julian laughed, "have you talked to Rob and Tom?"

"Oh. Yeah. They're coming. Rob said that he and Alex were gonna go with Tom and Gisele," I told him. "I meant to tell you that."

"It's all right," Jules laughed. I smiled and turned on the radio. "Lonely No More" by Rob Thomas was playing. In disgust, I changed the station.

"Hey!" Nikki protested from the backseat. "I love that song!"

"Well in that case," I teased one of my best friends, "I'm definitely not going back."

"Shut up," Nikki laughed, and she leaned over and shoved my shoulder. The three of us--minus Julian, who was shaking his head in amusement--lost ourselves in laughter. Addy's laugh was...so adorable.

Oh fuck off, Danny.

A little while later, we pulled up to the place. Julian got out of the drivers side and escorted Nikki while valet took the keys. I opened the back door for Addy, and she linked her arm with mine.
