Sitting over the Shard's roof and observing the shy stars over the cloudy sky, Edward keeps staring at his hands, moving them several times while checking if the human body was working correctly. He always felt amazed of how human anatomy worked. For decades he had been living under that skin that never gets old, under a body that he stole thirty years ago in the South Pole when that excavation team managed to find those old ruins; and through time managed to fell in love with the live he had been given.
So many people he'd met, so many lovers, but through all of them, there was only one person he could think of. And now he'd finally met him.
His thoughts are interrupted when a white and black butterflies fly around him.
"Good time to show off Spirit."
The woman materialises beside him and sits at his left side.
"I felt his need, so I rushed to meet him." She says. "After all it was his presence that guided me to these realms."
"So, you finally paid your debt huh?"
She smiles. "If you put things in that way, yes, I've considered them done."
Edward stays in silence for a few seconds.
"There is something I'm trying to understand." He stares right into her dark eyes. "Why should a great spirit like you bother to come to Midgard to help a fallen? I've always thought that the issues coming from Jannah and Jannaham didn't exactly concern the Spirit realms. Why now?"
The two butterflies land over the woman's shoulders.
"It's because this time there is something different." She says taking her eyes away from him.
"Are you talking about Taiel's predictions regarding the Holy Wars? From what I recalled he was exiled to Aflheim due to his horrifying predictions, as from what I remember YHWH would be deposed from His throne as soon as The Fallen would rise again."
"Do you really believe that?" The air freezes as the rain stopped falling. "Don't you think that was too perfect? I mean, Lucifer's incarceration in the mortal realm, and the Creator's sudden disappearance over the top layers of Atziluth. Don't you think there is something else happening over here? After all, over these last centuries you've felt that both the angel and demon army have been moving around through the Realms and reinforcing their guards over their own boundaries."
"Are you saying that the Old Man is afraid? After all Taiel as always been right up until now."
"Well... Dragon. You're forgetting that for every single prediction there is an alternative, as time doesn't flow in a straight line. There are alternatives, different futures, layer upon layer that go beyond our imagination. That was the plan all along for all of those who live, well the great majority, have free will. That everyone owns their own destiny. Yes, it is possible that Taiel's power is so immense that even he predicted all of those. And that's why the Creator exiled him, He was too afraid of his power. As it was what happened with Lucifer as well..."
Edward laughs loudly.
"So I guess that the Old Man feels insecure as well! I thought it was unique for mankind only."
"Why do you think He's an old man?"
"Isn't that the way humans describe Him? And old man with long hair and beard?"
The woman doesn't reply for a few minutes leaving suspense in the air.
"The way mortals create their divinities it's subjective. After all they based it through their own experiences, as elder people are supposed to be wiser, as well as men. And they try all the time to find a meaning to both good and evil. Of course this changes to their own point of view, becoming more flexible through time and location. As this world if filled with so many souls and so many different cultures..."
