Olivia's POV

My eyes fluttered open adjusting to the light. I looked around and realized I was at home on the sofa. Across from me was an anxious looking Brooke sitting on the loveseat. I looked at the windows and saw the sun still out so I don't think I was out for too long. As I tried to sit up I felt like a thousand tiny tap dancers were hammering the inside of my skull with the metal on their shoes. I groaned and fell back down, making enough noise to make Brooke aware of my sudden consciousness.

"Oh thank the Lord Jesus!" she exclaimed rushing over to me pulling me into a tight embrace.

For such a thin woman, she sure was strong. Even in pain, I was still able to utter out the breathless, sarcastic retort.

"I didn't know you were religious."

That earned me a slap on the back of my head. I winced slightly which she picked up on.

"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!"

"Yeah, yeah, it's okay. What happened anyways?"

"Well you sort of...fainted so I closed the shop early and brought you home."

"What time is it?"

"3pm"

"Well that's not too bad, I was only out for a few hours."

"It's Tuesday."

"Oh.."

"Oh here," in her hands were a bottle of Advil and a glass of water, "You probably have a headache."

Both of Brooke's parents were doctors so I trusted her judgment of whether or not I'd need to go to a hospital.

"Thanks," I muttered.

I swallowed the pill and then let the darkness consume me.

When I woke up, it was dark outside and my headache was gone, Thank God! I sat up and found Brooke sitting in the exact same spot on her phone. Seeing my movement in her peripheral vision, she put down her phone.

"Feeling better now?"

"Much, thanks."

"No problem, babygirl. You'd do the same for me. So...what happened? I mean, nothing this bad has happened to you since..."

From me shifting uncomfortably in my seat to my blank stare, I think she put the pieces together.

"Oh my god is he...?"

I just nodded my head.

Her face which gave me a look of pity and sympathy quickly turned into anger and annoyance.

"How dare he?! After all he put you through, he thinks he can just waltz back into town? I don't think so! Not on my watch! Nuh uh. Not happening. Na-da!"

She started toward the door muttering profanities, but before she could leave to probably kill him, I grabbed her wrist. She turned to look at me, her face in a scowl, but after noticing my quiet and sullen demeanor, her face softened and she gave me a side hug, sitting down with me.

She rested her head down onto my shoulder and said, "I'm sorry Liv, you should be the one screaming, not me. I just don't want you to get hurt again. You know I love you, right?"

"Yeah I know. I love you too. How about we go on a shopping trip tomorrow, kay? Shopping's the key to a broken heart right? That and ice cream."

Brooke eagerly nodded and then we went our separate ways to our rooms to sleep, only, I couldn't. I'm not sure if it was because I slept for too long already or since I had a lot on my mind. I tossed and turned for a while, but I couldn't get any rest. I'm pretty sure killing him would be illegal so I resorted to going to our gym.
