Hermione watched Draco wake up slightly. He was still on her lap and his hands were around her waist, like she was his pillow. The boy in her arms shifted again and pulled her closer to him, hiding his face in her waist. She was startled at first, but then she moved to enable him to sleep better and she then chuckled. She couldn't resist the temptation and she tangled her one hand in his hair, placing the other on his shoulder blade. However, she wasn't expecting him to tense. She wracked her brain to find what she could do to make him relax again, and the first thought that came to her mind was to sing to him. She remembered how her mother used to make her go back to sleep this way. And so she did. She didn't know what to sing so she made up a tune and started singing. Her idea worked and she felt him relax under her hands. He then smiled. Hermione was so shocked she stopped running her hand through his hair and singing. But then she smiled sweetly down at him and continued her singing, gently massaging his head. She realized she loved the feeling of him sleeping against her, she loved the feeling of his hands on her waist and the feeling of running her hands through his hair freely. She took her time looking at his sleeping face. He was really handsome. She wondered how could she not have noticed him before that way. He was mean to you a voice inside her said. Shut up she thought, and continued looking at the sleeping boy in front of her. Then his eyes opened and after blinking, they focused on her. Hermione abruptly stopped singing and running her hand through his hair, looking at him alarmed. Draco yawned a little and smirked, and her breath caught in her throat. XXX Draco felt safe. He knew this woman wasn't his mother, but whoever was treating him that way surely cared for him. He tried recognizing the voice. After giving it some thought, he came to the conclusion that since he must be in his bedroom, Hermione is the one singing to him and running her hand through his hair, she's the one he was sleeping against. He decided to show her he was awake. He opened his eyes and blinked several times so his eyes could adjust in the light, and his eyes then focused on her. She alarmed stopped singing and massaging his head. He yawned and then smirked at her.
"Good morning," he said in a raspy tone. "Good morning." she mumbled. Draco realized he was sleeping on her lap and that his 'pillow' was actually her waist. He then noticed they were sitting on the floor. How did they get there? Then everything came back. He looked up at her neck and saw the bruise, he was surprised he hadn't seen it until now. He immediately jumped away from her and she looked at him confused, but then a look of realization spread across her beautiful facial features. She sighed. "Come on Draco, I told you it's nothing!" He rapidly shook his head no. "I hurt you-" "Merlin's beard I just let you sleep on my lap for the whole night, I comforted you when you cried and I even sang to you in the
Was standing just in front of him. He sighed. "You shouldn't have-" "But I did." She challenged. "And I don't regret a thing." he looked at her and then took notice of the dark circles under her eyes. He frowned and raised a hand, touching them. He expected her to flinch away but she didn't move, her eyes glued on his. "You shouldn't have stayed up all night because of me." "You couldn't sleep for days, it's fine." He smiled slightly at her. "Thank you Hermione." She grinned. "It is 11 o'clock, we've lost breakfast, should I call a house elf?" "Sure. I'm sorry you couldn't go to breakfast..."
Everyone was there. Ginny looked at her knowingly and she rolled her eyes at her. "Malfoy what are you going to do with her?" Ron called out. The air seemed to freeze. Everyone now knew Ron wasn't exactly hard to anger, but Draco didn't seem to care of the redhead's feelings. "We are going to take a walk I suppose." he replied, looking at Hermione who nodded at him. Ron snorted. "As if she would go on a walk with you. She's-" "I thought it would be a nice idea." Hermione cut in, defending Draco. She raised an eyebrow, challenging him to continue. "When did you start defending him?" "When I understood his friendship values more than yours." she said harshly, effectively shutting him up. Everyone's head turned to her in surprise. Ron was looking hurt, but she didn't really care. She started walking to the exit when Ron's next words stopped her. "You are turning more into a snake every time we talk. I don't think I want to be friends with someone that is turning to be one of them." Hermione looked at him, her eyes narrowed like slits. "Mind you, Ronald, your future wife is a Slytherin and a snake as you said." "Pansy doesn't count." he said, making Pansy look at him in surprise. "You have to choose. It's me or Malfoy." Hermione scoffed. "That's not even a choice." Draco's eyes darkened and Ron's lit up. "I would choose Draco any day."
