Chapter 14 - "The Reality of My Emotions"
I rested on the edge of my bed, the doors locked. My room was pitch black due to the absence of light. My blood flowed from the wall probably because I punched it earlier. My headphones were about to burst from how loud the music was. No one could hear my sobs or see my messy state. I replayed our last conversation, thinking that she'll never take me back.
I had lost her. How fucking true it was. I lost her. The reason of my smile, my comfort, my best friend. I lost everything in one girl. Girls like her are reckless and rare. And I lost her. May be because she deserved better. Yes. She does. She deserved the best. I can't be the one to give her all the happiness.
I wasn't sure whether I loved her or not. But she told me that she does. The fear of breaking her heart was keeping me away from her. Now, I could only pray that she would get someone who'll deserve a person like her.
She was beautiful in her own way. Her angel eyes saw the good in many devils. She was a hurricane wrapped in sunbeams and moonshine. She was the midnight paradise. An angel in disguise. She had this weird habit of being herself all the time, that is why not everyone liked her.
She was beautiful in a way the world didn't understand, for the world only understood what the eyes could see; but the beauty she had was the rarest of all, for it was the type you feel with every part of your soul.
Amidst my unending thoughts, I didn't realize when DD made an entry and sat on the couch until he turned on the lights and pinched me.
I took out my headphones, wiping my tears as I smiled up at him. He gave the silliest and the most suspicious smile back to me and I felt as if he mocked at me.
"You didn't sleep?" I asked and he shook his head still giving me that cruel smile. I swear, I hated it.
"What?" I asked, trying to act normal as I began untying the laces of my shoe.
"Avni." I heard him say and my hands as well as heart stopped. Still, I tried my best to pretend.
"What Avni?"
"Don't act like you are unaware of everything." He spoke, holding my arms.
"And may I ask how are you aware of everything?" I surrenderd, shoving his hands away.
At the second instant, he caught hold of my hand and dragged me to the window.
I saw Avni down, still at the place where I left her, sitting on her knees. My heart skipped a beat seeing her that way. She must be crying.
"Shit" escaped my mouth as I ran my fingers in my hair.
"What have you done? Rejected her?" DD asked.
"What else could I do?" I answered, irritated.
"Listen, call Rhea and ask her to take Avni to their hostel please." I added, peeping down from the window.
"I have already done that." He told and I sighed in relief. Within the next minute, Rhea took Avni to their hostel room.
It was in the next instant that Ali too barged into the room.
"Ye kya horaha hai yaar? It's almost 3:30 now!" Ali yelled, taking his seat on the couch.
"Jee. Now tell me what happened exactly." DD interjected, irritating me yet again. But still, I told them everything, including my feelings and excluding those two hugs that we shared.
