I - Habits

jiyeon was walking back home when she heard footsteps behind her so she turned around and realised it was her boyfriend, hyunjin.

"oh. you're here!" she said and smiled slightly.
he just faked a smile and walked besides her.
she noticed something was definitely wrong with him.

"so, how was your day?" she decided to break the awkward silence.
"great." he anwsered with a cold voice.
she never heard him talk to her like that since they both got together, he usually makes her heart flutter with compliments and smiles everytime she talks to him.
but today he seemed different.

after some time walking, she finally arrived to the building she lives and she wanted to give him a hug to say goodbye but to her surprise..

he blocked her hug.

she was surprised by his reaction, her heart dropped and she gulped her saliva before looking at him in the eyes.
"hyunjin..?" she said.
"jiyeon." he said coldly "let's breakup." he finished his sentence and looked down to avoid eye contact.
"w-what..?" she said in a worried voice.
"i said let's break up. we have to think about the future of our relationship."
"what about your promises..?"
he let out a sigh.
"you can't anwser? do you think a breakup is easy?"
she started to get angry and teary in the same time. but she won't let out tears in front of him. not now.
"jiyeon, look-" he held her arm but she removed it.
"let go of me." she walked away to the building leaving him standing in the street.

he shouted her name several times but she ignored him and continued walking while trying to hold your tears.

when she arrived to her appartement, she rushed quickly to her room and crumbled in her bed.
the tears that she has been holding before started streaming down her face ruining her makeup and making her cheeks as red as a tomato.

whenever she remembered his name; "hyunjin" the scene of him asking for a breakup played in her mind leaving her in disbelief of what had just happened.

it was so sudden, yet so intense.

grabbing her phone and wondering through their pictures together, a heartache made her feel like it's the end of the world. without him.

"what a mess." she murmured to herself while drinking a cup of water to help her calm down.

JIYEON'S POV

i came early to class so i sat in my usual seat next to the window, i glanced at the chair that was infront of me, it was his seat.

- few months earlier..

the teacher was in the middle of explaining the lesson and i was really bored, i've been at school since the morning and everything started making no sense.

hyunjin turned around discretely to face me, he was trying to not get caught.

as soon as i saw his face, i smiled and leaned forward to him while keeping my eyes on the teacher.
"you wanna skip the next class? tteok is on me" he giggled.

i gave him a thumbs up while smiling and we went back to pretending that we actually pay attention in class.

- current time

but now his seat is empty. and even if he came, his presence wouldn't be the same as before. everything changed.
