Chapter 20

Meanwhile after Inui left, Usaida and the rest of the children arrived, but my brother Ryu looked completely lost until Usaida came up to him to snap him out of his daze.

"Hey, Ryu-chan. Ryu-chan. You alive?" Usaida asked causing Ryuichi to snapped out of his daydream and looked surprised while Midori is streching his lips. Baffled, Ryuichi glance left and right before turning to Usaida and I. 

"Usaida-san, when did you get here?" He asked.

"I'm here, too!" Taka shouted.

"Me too!" Takumi cheered.

"And me..." Kazuma chimed shyly.

"Ryu-niichama, you were sleeping with your eyes open!" Kirin pointed out.

"Eh? Aina, how long was I out?" He asked.

"For while, Usaida and the kids arrived before you were snapped out of your train of thought." I explained.

"Oh, sorry...and sorry for not paying attention Usaida. I guess I didn't know." He apologized. 

"No worries. Besides, I came here, and you were staring into space. Kotaro was frozen too, it was kinda freaky." He stated. Feeling bad for not noticing Kotaro, Ryuichi patted his head.

"Sorry Kotaro. I guess we're out of time now. How about after class?" He asked and Kotaro nod. Usaida knew something's up and asked him.

"What's wrong? Something on your mind?" He questioned.

"No, he was so spaced out from that heat thanks to redhead." I told him. 

"Redhead?" He blinked his eyes twice. 

"She meant Inui-senpai, but...can I ask you a question?" He asked.

"Sure." He replied. 

"I was thinking, I never met Midori-chan's father? What's he like?" He asked curiously while the male children are climbing on top of him and the two girls are lying on my lap.

"Oh, I heard he's on a dig or something, somewhere overseas." He stated.

"Oh wow, he's an archaeologist?" I asked with an intriguing smile. 

"Something like that." He assumed. 

"S-So she's not widowed or divorced or anything like that?" He asked curiously.

"Yeah, he's alive. And I'm pretty sure they get along." He told us. I glance at my brother to see him looking pale, but I sighed and pat his shoulder.

"Ryuichi relax, they're not having an affair. Besides, Mrs. Sawatori isn't the type of woman who would cheat on him out of the blue while her husband's out of town." I reassured.

"But how can you tell?" He asked.

"I'm not exactly sure, but...I wouldn't worry about it. Besides, I don't think Inui is the type of guy who can handle kids or responsibility." I told him making him chuckle a bit. 

"Yeah you're right." He agreed with a grin yet still looking concern. 

"Don't worry, things will be fine." I reassured.

"Speaking of which, I gotta wonder why you're asking that, though. Are you into older women, Ryu-chan? You're into that soap opera stuff, huh?" Usaida playfully asked. 

"Don't even joke about that!" He scolded.

"Oh, uh, right...sorry." He apologized.

While Ryuichi looks anxious, I for one became conflicted about whether it's true or not that Mrs. Sawatori is having an affair with Inui. That wouldn't be normal...if they did, then it's goodbye teaching license and hello jail time. But I hope it's not true. It wouldn't be true at all. Maybe he was just bluffing for attention. I don't know, but...I'm hoping this whole thing between Inui and Mrs. Sawatori is a bluff. At least I hope so....
