Calissa's POVI stop my car dead in the driveway. My dark green eyes reflected the flames coming from my house. It was almost all gone, the remaining structure barely hanging on. The firefighters and police swarmed over my lawn, the firefighters putting out the fire as best as they could. I sat numbly for a minute, my brain not wanting to process any of this. (A/N, Thanks for reminding me about house insurance! I didn't even think about that. For those of you just now reading this story don't worry about this comment!)
A figure walked up to my car, tapping gently on the window. I tear my eyes from the ghastly sight, opening the door for the officer standing before me.
"Hello ma'am, this is your house correct?" He asks with a slight upper east accent. I nodded stiffly, my mind racing for a reason that my house was no longer livable.
"I'm sorry ma'am. I don't think there's anything left to salvage. Is there anyone we can call for you?" I shake my head slowly, knowing I only had two people to call, the insurance company and my bosses. I took out my phone and got the easy one over with, the insurance company would get back to me on what they covered and will help me with finding people to begin the process of building a new house after whats left of my old house is removed. I thanked them and hung up, rubbing my eyes before I placed the next call.
"Hello?" His voice was deep and husky, almost like he had been sleeping.
"I'm sorry, did I wake you? Were you taking a nap before dinner?" I bite my lip then freeze as I hear a girly giggle. Oh shit! He is with a girl, which altered my perception of them being gay a bit.
"Who is that?" I hear Lucas ask in the background. I panic and hang up, staring at my phone in shock. Today had been too much. The tears of losing my childhood home finally getting to me. The home my mom raised me in before she passed five years ago. All of those memories, gone...
Matt's POV
"Damn!" I stare at the now silent phone, ignoring the blonde girl trying to valiantly get my attention.
"It was Cali. I don't know what she needed she hung up." I was about to say more when my phone beeped with a text. It was from her.
Cali~ Hey sorry I didn't mean to interrupt but I have a small problem with my living arrangements and I won't be able to make it to work for the next couple of days....
Matt~ Cali baby, what's wrong???
I frown at my phone when she doesn't reply. I toss my phone at Lucas and let him read it while I get up and start getting dressed. Cali needs us.
"Wait, where are you going?" The blonde pouts and I can't help rolling my eyes as I get my socks and shoes on.
"Sorry. We have to go." Lucas was abrupt and I was glad we did this at her place. He was already ready to go. We leave her house and I get into the drivers side of the convertible. Lucas drums his fingers on the dash, his eyes tight with worry as I drove. We pull up to her house and my jaw drops in shock as we see nothing but black ash and firemen. Lucas is out in a flash before I had even put the car in park and was calling out for Cali. I get out and jog after him, my heart beating quickly. I spot her car and grab his shoulder, pointing it out. He nods and we walk briskly towards it. She has her head on the steering wheel, her beautiful blonde hair fanning out over it. My heart pounds faster as I look in at her. She's so beautiful it makes my heart hurt. Lucas taps gently on the window and she jumps, turning to open the door. Her eyes were red and it hit me like a fist to my stomach. She opens the door and frowns at us.
