Maybe It was just her imagination getting in the way or maybe it was the whole bottle of champagne speaking but something about him just didn't seem right. As Lizzie inched closer to Nathan it was obvious that there was tension between them.
"Hey, what's up with you?" Lizzie hissed.
"What do you mean?"
"I don't know, You just seem... distant, You know?" Lizzie sighed
"Well, It's not my fault that you went and cheated on me with a complete stranger!" Nathan snapped. This was true, Lizzie had slept with someone she had met on the streets but she thought they were past it.
"Listen..."
"No, I'm going to bed, Goodnight" Nathan had cut her off before she got the chance to apologize.Lizzie really did feel terrible about cheating on Nathan but she had good reasoning, Nathan had been so tied up with work and university that he barely had time for her anymore and no matter how many times she pulled him back in, they would just constantly drift apart. Once Lizzie had finished reading her book she made her way to the bedroom where Nathan was sleeping peacefully. He was so cute when he was asleep, Granted, He was already cute when he was awake.
Lizzie joined him in the bed. As she got closer, Nathan got further.
"You can't just make up for it that easily!" Nathan Murmured to himself. She got a little closer, attempting to make skin contact, but Nathan simply got out of the bed.
"I'll be sleeping on the couch tonight" And he stormed off. Lizzie laid there, filled with sorrow and regret, and watched her one true love drift back out into the vast ocean. One could not describe her emotions without bringing up the word 'Heartbroken'.When Lizzie woke up the next morning, She had almost forgotten about Nathan until...
"I don't think we can go on like this"
"What?!" Lizzie was in complete shock, Her body went stiff and her eyes widened. Nathan couldn't possibly want to break up with her, Not after 3 years of a perfect relationship!
"I think we need some time apart..." This was absolutely insane, Just a month prior Nathan had told Lizzie that nobody in the world could replace her but oh how things change over time. Isn't it funny how the people who once said they would never hurt you end up being the ones that hurt you the most?"You're overreacting, Maybe you should reconsider!" Lizzie desperately tried to salvage what they had left. "And... And... You can't just walk out! Not on me..." But Nathan was already packing his things to go and before she knew it, The love of her life was walking away. It had all happened in a heartbeat. Lizzie's face was a bright red and her tears formed a waterfall down her cheeks. They say you never know what you have until it's gone and it's true. Lizzie spent most of her day crying in bed. In fact, Lizzie spent most her week crying alone in her bed. Love is like heaven but it can hurt like hell.
Feeling Isolated, Lizzie sought human contact. It should be noted that Lizzie was feeling quite tipsy after 8 rounds of shots and drunk Lizzie, formerly known as 'Pretty Lizzie', Was a beast at karaoke. Later that night, Lizzie had gone out with some friends to the local club and let's just say, Pretty Lizzie got her chance to shine, and brightly she did shine!
As light tore through the night sky Lizzie couldn't help but think about Nathan. Lizzie still dreamt about his return. Soon enough, The stars disappeared into the dark. Maybe she was really just hanging on a thread but she knew Nathan would someday reunite with her and they would have their 'Happily ever after' but that didn't change the fact that, for now, Lizzie was alone.
