Betty G Mackie Raleigh is a renovator herself and she started with contractor-like duties after collaborating with the contractors she hired and did as much of the work as she could herself initially. She was able to re-purpose many of the accessible and existing materials that were already there from repainting old doors and for re-purposing things. It included doorknobs, antique hinges, stained glass windows, and many more. She did so that they were current looking, and to its original condition.

She also meets with the sub-contractors for overseeing their work and keeps them on budget and on time.
