A/N
Hi, I'm Astrid. This is my first time publishing a fanfic online- I hope you enjoy it.
I'll try my best to sort out any punctuation/grammar but I can't promise anything; it isn't exactly my strong point.
Anyway, please don't hate on it. If you actually read it.
Oh yeah and also, all of the CHERUB franchise belongs to Robert Muchamore- I'm just writing fanfic!
I'm not even sure if I'll update. We'll see how many reads I get.
Oh and by the way, Gemini is a zodiac sign that also means twins.

Thanks for reading!

Part 1

"Cassie!" Comes the petulant wail as soon as I turn on my bedside light.

The digital clock reads 07.10- time to get up.
"Sorry." I mutter, clearing my throat softly. "It's time for breakfast."

4 year old Corinne turns away from me in her twin bed, and stretches like a cat. A grumpy, tired cat.

Sighing, I pull on my uniform. A stiff white shirt, too short on the wrists. Not my fault I have long arms and legs- that's just the way I am. Tall, skinny and gangly.

I'm constantly reprimanded for the length of my skirt; teachers are fed up of girls hitching theirs up past their thighs. I only wear a shirt one because if it were any smaller, it would literally fall down.

My tights are the same, too short and itchy. The bottle green jumper that makes everyone look sick as a dog is even worse against my pale skin, clashing with my blue eyes.

Ugh. Not that I really care about fashion all too much.

I guess you could say I'm not exactly a girly girl. My phone is filled with photos of hockey drills, Minecraft worlds and sheets of music I'm meant to practice. Unlike most of the other girls in my year, who take selfies in mirrors and use hashtags and post on Instagram.
My twin brother Charley is slumped over a soggy bowl of cereal in the kitchen, barely awake. We're not exactly a morning family- I know my dad probably won't be up before midday.

"You better not have used all the milk." I threaten.

He shrugs, smiling lopsidedly. He must think that grin looks so great- he does have half the girls in the year after him, that's for sure. Including two of my best friends, Georgie and Jasmine.

"I left some." He claims.
"Yeah. Some. Enough to maybe cover the bottom of a glass." I say sarcastically. "Well, I'm making toast."

"Make some for me too."
"No way, you lazy boy."
My other brother Callum comes sprinting down the stairs. "Cassie!" He stares at his book bag on the table in horror. "I forgot to do my homework!"

Why would they give a seven year old homework? It's not like he needs it, he's easily the smartest in his year.

"Come here, I'll help you." I say reassuringly.
It's only a few maths questions which are easy even for Callum. He writes them out neatly in his maths book- his lettering is immaculate. Neater than mine, that's for sure.

Just then, my toast pops up. I made five slices, enough for Corinne, Callum and me.

Callum scarfs down two, with a drink of orange juice. I plaster one with jam and give it to Corinne, who smiles sweetly at me. Rolling my eyes, I give her another one, leaving the burnt off pickings for myself.

By 7.45, we're all ready to go.
My dad wander spur of his room, seemingly sober for once.

"Cassie. I just want to say I love you. And Charley, my big boy. I love you all, okay?" He says unexpectedly. I frown as he hugs me. He has never done this before. I can smell the gross hangover on his breath, but I hug him back gingerly. "Love you too, dad." I whisper as we pull apart.
