After Dusk

Chapter 2

As you ran beside your hero.

Now here you we're typing away at your computer. After all you worked for the hero agency that you and Toshinori applied to in America. You let out a long yawn before sipping from your coffee cup. You we're currently looking at crime rates in California and local crooks and villains around the area. Dave walked into the office looking at you with a raised eye brow. "(Y/n)?" He asked "You're up?,Did you even sleep last night!?" He walked over to you leaning over your shoulder. You glance over your shoulder at him and scoff "No, I haven't, but I'm fine" you say shaking your head. Though you stop upon seeing David's upset look he was giving you. "Dave, It's not that serious" you say but he stopped you. "You need to take better care of yourself! You can't expect to be a good hero if you don't look after your health!" He scolded you. You smiled before wrapping your arms around his neck and hugging him. His eyes widened and mouth dropped open to say something but closed it after a few seconds and smiled. "GOOD MORNING!!" a loud voice boomed making you jump and your chair go rolling across the floor. "T-Toshi!!" You and Dave yell. Toshinori stood in the door way dressed in his hero costume with a wide grin. Your eyes looked up at the rather tall man, even though you worked with him on a daily basis, you still could not get enough of his bright aura that could light up a whole room instantly. You stood, wearing a simple pair of black sweatpants and a hoodie. "Try using your inside voice next time" you said to him leaning against the desk's edge. "Sorry about that" he said with a small chuckle, "Sometimes I cannot control myself!" He grinned placing his hands on his hips proudly. "I've researched some villains we can possibly go after on patrol!" She said nodding towards the computer. Toshi's grin widened "You always work so hard (Y/n)!" He said with a thumbs up walking past you over to the computer. You blushed at the complement, "Thank you, Toshi..." You whispered your hands clutching at your hood. Though you're sure he didn't even hear you. "W-well I'll go get ready so we can go!" You say rushing out of the room. You rush to your small room in the apartment that the three of you shared. Sharing the apartment between three people helped settle a lot of the bills and helped keep a roof over all of your heads. Splitting the cost for utilities and even rent payed off in the end. You sighed out as you laid out your hero costume. It wasn't as flashy as Toshi's, but that didn't matter to you. The only thing that matter was that you were able to save people and help in any situation you can. You put it on and checked yourself in the mirror twirling around to see all angles. You smiled before clipping on your utility belt and pulling your hood over your head. You ran back down the halls "I'm ready to go!" You say to the two boys watching them get ready themselves. Toshinori grabbed the keys to the car off the table and Dave followed in pursuit. "Let's go then, let's find some villains!" Toshi cheered heading towards the door of the apartment. You all got in the large shiny red super car! It was so cool, you'd have to get Dave to make you your own one day! You jumped in the back leaning between the two front seats. You grinned, "I love this car so much!" You said to the two boys. Dave smirked at you, "Love it all you want, just put your seatbelt on" he said flicking your forehead. You shot him a quick glare to which he just laughed at. You looked at Toshi who was surprisingly laughing too, "You still haven't changed from when we were kids have you (Y/n)?" He asked shaking his head as his large V-shaped bangs bounced. "Oh shut it ,Bunny boy!" You snapped at him with a smirk buckling up. He let out a boisterous laugh at the nickname you gave him. The car speed off down the streets of California with top speeds. Your eyes scanned the fast moving streets, you moved over to the bag you kept in the back with a sigh. You reached inside pulling out what seemed to be a blood bag. "Man, I hate his so much" you said making Toshinori look back at you and Dave look up in the rear view mirror. Toshi had a small frown on his face, he knew that no matter how much you resented having to drink blood, you still had to do it. "It'll be alright!" He told you sending you a supportive smile. You could never keep the blood down, sooner or later your body would force it back up, that was the worst part. The metallic taste was also horrible and it use to make you gag but at least you've built a resistance to the taste. You refused to drink from an actual person though, it was inhumane and the liquid being warm only made it worse. You nodded your head to Toshi, he was always supportive of your quirk. You bit into the bag and drank down the blood even though you didn't want to. You felt your senses grow stronger, your hearing sharper, smell as well, the metallic taste of the blood strong. Your pupils turned to slits and you could now see clearer and sharper. "Someone help me!!" You heard what seemed to be a woman screaming for help. She was probably in her twenties or thirties from what it sounded like. Your head snapped to the right, "Dave!, Turn here!" You quickly say and he makes a sharp turn. You tossed the empty blood bag bag into the bag with the others. "Remind me to get more later" she said eyes narrowing when she saw the culprit. A villain stood in the middle of the street holding a girl up in the air by her neck as she helplessly kicked and thrashed around. Dave swerved to a stop the car now going sideways. You were already out of the car bounding over to the villain. You noticed the hiding civilians as you scanned your surroundings, you'd make sure that none of them got hurt. The villain noticed you, he was a rather large man, he seemed to just laugh at the sight of such a small girl who tried to challenge him. "You're pretty pathetic Y'know, taking a hostage for a villain" You scoff making your way closer to him. You seemed to have the most bored and unamused look on your face. "Who are you calling pathetic you littl-" he was cut short by the sound of heavy footsteps. His eyes snapped up to look at all might, he seemed to cower in fear. A grin spread on your face, "Awe, What's wrong? You scared now?" You tilted your head with a small chuckle. All might smirked at you "Now, now, it isn't very heroic! Teasing someone weaker than you" all might said knowingly. As expected the man stepped forward "Who are you calling weak?!" He said and tightened his grip on the girl making her whimper out. You dug into your utility belt pulling out small grey balls. You threw them at the ground and with loud bangs surrounded the man with smoke. It was a little something that Dave made for you, to help you out maneuver your enemies. You quickly moved quicker than the eye could see, and once the smoke finally cleared you were right behind the man. "Face it! You're a nobody...,You'll never be anything other than a worthless scumbag for me to clean up" the said in his ear. The man swung around and his bone seemed to pop out of his arm as a spear like weapon. You easily invaded the attempt, "So that's your quirk, bone manipulation, that's sad, what a waste of a good quirk" you say shaking your head. You glanced back at Toshinori and gave him a nod. In the heat of the moment you tore the girl from his grasp and into your arms. Kicking the villain back during the process, you frowned, the girl was so scared as she clung to you as if he life depended on it. Toshinori took this time and moved forward now that the civilian was safe in your arms. "Detroit Smash!!" Toshinori yelled as his fist collided with the villain. You noticed the girl in your arms perk up at the battle, "His quirk is so cool" you heard her mutter. You felt a small smile "Yeah!, it is Isn't it?" You say sending her a kind smile as you set her down. "His name is All Might, we're from Japan" you explained to her. You watched her fawn over the hero and who could blame her? All might was hot, and strong. You felt you swallow the small lump in your throat that began to form. You knew you had fallen in love with him years ago, yet you never told him. 'That's probably best, why would he like me after all?' You thought 'He'd never think of me the same way' you forced a smile of your lips. You watched All Might detain the villain easily after a very short battle. You bit your lip 'He'd never love me, how could he?' The lump was back and you felt your smile falter. All might let out a laugh and sent out his signature catchphrase. "Everything's alright! Why?, Because I am here!" He said catching the attention of everyone in the area. You walked back to the car with a small sad smile as you listened to the whole crowd cheer. David noticed this and furrowed his eyebrows, He'd be sure to ask you what was going on later. He leaned over the seat "Hey! You did great out there! Thanks for using those smoke bombs I made" he said with a sweet smile to try and cheer you up. "Thanks Dave" you say with a smile. Toshinori got back in the car, "First villain done! Good job getting the civilian (Y/n)!" He said to you. You nodded "You're the one who defeated the villain though! As cool as always" You mutter placing your cheek in your hand. "You're a great hero!" Toshi encouraged, and those words made your heart flutter again. You smiled and look up at the sky, 'Maybe things aren't as bad as they seem.' you mindlessly thought.
