"Uh, hi," I said timidly. Brenda wrapped my in a massive hug. I patted her bag awkwardly. "I have wanted to meet you for so long!" She started pushing me through people and towards the stage. "Go on, sing something!"
"I don't really-" I began.
"Go on Alley!" Ramon yelled.
I rolled my eyes at him and let. Brenda pull me towards the stage. She started adjusting the mic. It gave a screech if feedback, sending heads of bartenders and drinkers my way.
Great.
"What are you going to sing?" Brenda asked.
"Say something!" Ramon yelled across the room. I gave him a look, and ran though the lyrics of a great big world's song. I looked up to all the encouraging smiles across the room and the voices and sounds began to fade. I took a deep breath.
And began to sing.
The song ended and applause and cheers erupted from the crowd. I took a bow timidly.
"You sung so well!" Brenda exclaimed in my ear over the voices and echos of claps filling the room.
"Yay Alley!" Ramon yelled.
I descended the stage.
Was I really that good?
I broke into a massive grin and looked around at the mirrored faces.
I did it.
