I had always loved when it rained in LA. I thought that even though the sun was gone under the clouds and the black pavement was saturated by the water, the city got more charm. i'd been laying on my jacket outside on the courtyard of Fairfax high school, my big round sunglasses blocking my eyes from raindrops. I didn't really care at all if the rest my dress got wet Because usually the rain would stop in the matter half an hour. But today was different, I realized as the rain picked up. That this wasn't an ordinary LA sprinkle. I opened my eyes to look around the courtyard and I realize that I've been only one laying there for quite a while. everybody had probably gone inside for a free period to get out of the rain. I started to awkwardly pick up all my stuff and put my jacket back on and clear my sunglasses off when it started to really rain, so much so that I heard a strike of thunder. I squealed. I grabbed all my stuff and ran inside toward the cafeteria, shaking my hair out upon getting inside. I walked hurriedly to the back of the cafeteria, scoping out the seat at the table beside one of my best friends, Gabby. I had known Gabby for a few years now but she moved to LA only last year. My mom decided to make the move only about a month ago, deciding that we needed a fresh start and change in our lives. so here I was in LA, with Gabrielle as my only friend. i'd also met a girl named Serena who lived next door, and she was really sweet and I was happy to find out that she went to Fairfax high as well! She was sitting at the same table as Gabby. Upon getting closer to the table I saw her sitting across from a boy with a mop of brown hair, big hazel eyes, wearing a brighly patterned shirt, and her and the guy seemed to be having an intense staring competition. Serena and another boy were sitting at the other end, pouring over a very colourful drawing that had "FLEA" written on the bottom. I grinned as I chucked my books on the floor, swinging my legs over the seat to sit beside Gabby. She turned her head to look at me. "Hey honey!" She said with a smile. The boy across from her slammed his palm on the table. "I WIN! You broke concentration." His lips curled into a big goofy smile. She rolled her eyes. "Why are you all wet?" She asked. My cheeks go red. "I got distracted outside..." The boy grins and leans forward in his chair. "I love LA rain. I'm Hillel, by the way." I smile politely and say "I'm Cali." "Nice to meet you Cali. Alright. I'm going to go find Anthony. Gabby, wanna join me?" She smiled at him deviously then got up from the table, putting a black shortsleeved arm around me and whispering "see ya later." I watch as Hillel and Gabby quickly walk away, their hands just barely touching eachother in an innocent display of inconspicuous PDA. I tap my fingers on the table anxiously, and smile at Serena and Flea. Flea smiles. "You'll like Anthony. His.....confidence is really big." Then he grins goofily and I notice the gap in between his front teeth. Serena gives him a whack on the arm. I don't think I get the joke but I laugh anyway. "Can't wait to meet him." I mumble. Flea and Serena have their own thing going on, so I sit at the table by myself and take out my notebook, doodling the lyrics to a Neil Young song on the back cover. Not long after, I hear a soft but manly voice say "shit, is that Neil Young?" I slam my hand over the writing and then turn around. I see a tall, tanned boy with shoulder length brown hair and a wickedly sexy smile. I tuck my hair behind my ear and quickly say "yeah, it is". The boy immediately sits down beside me. "Cool dude, Neil's a legend. Nobody else loves him like I do." I smile sweetly at how excited he gets. Hillel appears in front of me, his arm around Gabby's waist, and gestures to the boy. "This, Madame, is Mr Anthony Kiedis" I look at him. Gabby then gestures to me and says "Anthony, this is my great friend Cali." Anthony nods. "Nice name. I used to know a supermodel named Cali. She was hot." I raise my eyebrows at him. Then he says; "So...I'm pretty sure i'd notice a girl as good looking as you in the school... but I haven't. When did you transfer in? I blush but quickly regain my composure. "Like, yesterday." He nods slowly, then says "Do you like it here?" I shrug my shoulders. Anthony exchanges a quick glance with Flea then quickly licks his lips. Cute. "Listen, I know this super cool burger place. We could go after school if you're into that?" Damn. He's kind of confident. I raise my eyebrows and nod, smiling as flirtatiously as I possibly can. "Cool." He says. "Can I meet you outside the front doors after school?" I nod my head. "I'd love that." Just then, the bell rings and the spare period is over. I quickly grab all my stuff and stumble over to my last class, english. Though I could always zone out of anything to focus solely on this class, today was different. For the whole hour, I was only thinking of Anthony's sweet, goofy grin.
